Will a 400 watt amp power a single 12 inch sub just fine?

It'll power it but it depends on how much rms power the woofer is rated at.

Nobody going to ask about the amp? Is this amp 400 watts "max" or RMS? At what load?

Partly what I was getting at. Also, is the sub in a ported or sealed enclosure ? If ported, what is the tuned frequency ?

Oh jeez...this is more complicated then I thought lol. Uhm actually I'm gona do 2 12's. There Rockford punches in a non ported box. The amps I'm looking at are both dual. Ones 400 the other is 800. The 400 is a 2/1 channel mosfer. It's a XPE2700. The 800 watt is a 4/3/2 power amp and its a XPE4700.

You're probably only going to get 50 RMS out of those
