Ha, well I bought this amp so I could stuff it under the seat, but then the mountaineer seats I ended up getting were power on both driver & passenger, so out went that idea. After I cut the bottom of the air duct in the console off, and the top of it out, it's like that spot was meant for a small amp. And if I ever want to make adjustments I can just pop off those two panels on the console and it's right there.
I'm happy with the 8, it's not hear you coming two blocks away loud, but it blends perfectly with the mids, you can't tell where the sub ends and the mids begin. It can have a little bump going on too, I haven't really cranked on it yet, since it's still new. I suspect it'll have a little more output once it's broken in. Plays well on everything I've thrown at it, ranging from Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Slayer, NIN, Papa Roach, even some classical. If there's one thing to say about this sub, it plays clean. Fast drum beats are no problem for it.
I think you'll be happy with it as long as you're not expecting some mind blowing bass. I have read these things do awesome in a .6-.7 cu ft box ported to about 35hz. That's always an option if you want more output, and I may try it in the future, just for giggles.
On a side note, I'm totally hooked on 8" subs now. Small box, smaller price tag, but still relatively big sound. Last build I did was two 8" Infinitys in a ported box in my car. When I fired that up, and it was louder & cleaner than my old 2-12" rockfords, I was sold. This doesn't have the output of that setup, but not a fair comparison, 2 8s in a ported box vs 1 in a sealed.
Mine is going in a .3 cu sealed. I have a reg cab no room for anything big. And I got the alpine mrv250 so it is a little small but I got it cause it puts out a decent amount of power yet it's a small amp so I can hide it.

I had one of those Type R 8" it sounded pretty good considering i had it in a sealed box.
I was running it with a 500w Alpine amp and it never let me down.
Sealed always sounds better than ported, being everything is done correctly with both setups. Sealed is typically for sound quality setups and ported is typically for rap and hiphop and if you just want loud sub bass.
I have a JVC KW AV50 head unit, 6x8 kicker 2way speakers on all four doors, INTERFIRE G2-1200, INTERFIRE BD-4X epicenter as well, and 2 MTX RTS 10-44 the subwoofers are dvc 4ohms. Rated at 250 watts RMS. The subwoofer box was homemade as you can see and took me about three days to complete it. Not as nice but gets the job done.
Interfire is the brand of the amp. The epicenter gives bass to songs that don't have much bass. U control the amount of bass u want. The box is sealed and it's pretty much the same size as the ones they sell on the internet.
Looks to be a preamp meant to restore bass when using a stock headunit. With all the EQ and sound adjustibility of your JVC headunit, I don't see why it's needed, but to each his own. The fewer components you can get by with in your system, the less induced noise and more music clarity you will have (if the components you use are good quality).
Is each subwoofer wired to a seperate channel on the amp ? Is each subwoofer in it's own sealed chamber ? Those subs should be able to handle 300 watts RMS each of clean power if the chamber each is in isn't more than .75 cu.ft., but I wouldn't do more than that. That amp is capable of 350 watts RMS output per channel. You should be sure and set the gain in such a way as to limit the output to 300 watts RMS per channel. You could still clip the signal if you choose to use the bass boost remote knob at all.
The subs are wired sepratley from each other. They have its own sealed chamber and I just use the epicenter's knob when the song has no bass at all. Otherwise the knob is completley down as if the epicenter was not there. It all depends on the type of music you listen to.
I haven't heard one in person, doubt i will until i do my install.
I bought a X-10 and SAZ-1200D over a month ago, can't wait to get a box built for it!
Really tempted to hook the SAZ-1200D up to the SA-8 v2 i have now, it would probably love the 7-800w @ 2 ohms.
I agree the youtube video's aren't much help.
You wanna RAK that sa8 to a fellow chiver ? lol
