Too much power? I had the thing wired at 2ohms the sub was rated for 450 watts and the amp at 2ohms was good for a claimed 500. This is the first I've ever blown so I'm pretty surprised. I need to get my hands on an oscilloscope. I have a Solus but I'm not sure if it has waveforms on it. I don't think it does. I'm thinkin its time for an SA8 or something close thay can handle my abuse and put out enough bass for me lol

Any suggestions? ? (That's for everyone)

Yeah stock speakers are junk. Sa8 will take anything. That would be your best bet they are sweet!

I was gonna go with an sa8 but I don't have any room cause I have a reg cab 97 so it's the smallest of them all lol so I went with an alpine type r 8 black cone model.

I was thinking of doing the dual 2ohm voice coils since its the same price and if I want to upgrade my amp later on I can wire down to less ohm. Also the idea of having a smaller sub ill be able to do a smaller box something vented with an overall size of 17"x17"x10ish. Less trunk space taken up.

If you want an sa8 small box doesn't work lol. It's a massive sub. Needs some decent air space. I got a dvc 4 ohm to wire it to 2 ohm. It's a pretty sweet sub. Haven't had the chance to use it yet though

That's a very nice lookin sub but only 350wat?? I've always been a fan of alpines. As far as the box goes that's what sundown suggests. They even have a layout n blueprints for it on thier website.

I'm not looking to throw a lot of power to it. The amp is a 250 rms alpine. I'm looking to add bass not destroy my truck from rattles like I used to lol
