Thanks man! I had them in my old 98 Ranger with tan carpeting up until I sold that and got my 06. Re-carpeted the boxes (wish i would have gotten a darker grey, but meh) and threw em in there with the same setup as my 98.

I'm really pleased with how they sound for 2 reasons: a) for only being 2 8's, they hit damn hard and b) for being custom boxes that I built while I was going to Mobile Dynamics Car Audio School back in 2008. At the time, I didn't have a specific sub in mind. I was worried the box volume would make them sound like shit since they weren't built specifically for those 8 inch Punches. But regardless, came out great. Hits pretty damn hard when I want it to, I love it!

Very nice and tidy looking install RANGAAA

If those boxes aren't ported they look a little big, but it probably hits nice and low with the power you have going to them.

Yes that's a very clean and unique setup. I haven't seen corner boxes before.

Thanks I appreciate. But yea they're not ported. Would have preferred to port em, but didn't have time when I was building em unfortunately. They look a little bigger than they really are though. They're the best of both worlds for me... I listen to metal as well as rap. It gets the quick tight bass hits of the metal and low deep bass hits of the rap.

Thanks. Main reason I built them like that was so they'd sit in the little jump seat cubby hole as well as shoot across the cab diagonally. When subs are aimed up, down, left or right the sound waves just travel back and forth and the sound deteriorates. With my setup the waves travel all over. My original plan was to have a 3rd box in the middle with a 10 shooting up towards the dome light. That would have been insane, but probably overkill lol.

Here's a quick sketch I just did of what I had planned for what the 3rd box roughly would have been like. The side with the 10 would have been angled down slightly at about a 30 degree angle, shooting at the ceiling.

Maybe I'll do it down the road, but I doubt it lol. I'm happy with the setup now, and it doesnt occupy the whole back like it would if I added the 10.

Yeah, that's a decent little install right there!
And remember, it's never too late to go ported.

Anyone got some good recommendations for some coaxials that won't break the bank?

They are going in doors and ran off my amp which is an old rf 50.2 I think. I've always used 3 and 4 ways but I hear this is the way to go, so I'm going to give them a shot. I will probably go with 6.5 as well because I know they will sound better

You would have had to have the 10" hitting lower than the 8's or all 3 on the same mono sub so there wouldn't be phase or cancelling issues.

6.5's nowadays don't sound any better than 6x8's nowadays. There is no logic to it.

That amp will do 75 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohm load.

Well this is only my second box ive ever built. Was originally going to have 2 ported 12s and a sealed 10 but I figured I would have trouble tuning them. I left the middle open for storage of the auxiliary battery, power inverter and my ps3.
2 12" alpine 1242Ds running off of a alpine m1000 amp.

Not bad for a 17 year old "boy". Hahahaha the last pic is my old sealed setup. I had it sprayed and sealed with the box liner they do trucks with (like rhino liner or something of the sort) if you can have it done, I highly reccomend it. Completely seals the box and gives it a badass, easily cleanable, and durable finish. Ill be doing the ported with it as well.

This is what I currently have in my 94 ext xl ranger. As with all of us bass heads, this truck is a work in progress, just wish I didn't have to take my seats out every time I have to work on the system. LOL Here's some pics:
Ported box for 2 Sundown zv3 12s I custom built

225amp alt big 3 and odyssey 1750 battery under the hood

RD D9 and 2 more odyssey 1750s under a false floor

Clarion CZ702

Sundown cs6.5 components

Everything installed

I'm currently working on a custom fiberglass center console for a 10in android tablet.

That's it for now but ill have some finished pics of the center console in the next week or two. Ill post a whole build log when im finished.
