Well the box is like 1.2 cu. ft. You could prob play with some dimensions and get a little more room. Or settle for some shallow mount subs lol

Hah I can't say I would go shallow unless it was that $600 one from JL, but of course that's $600 lol. Maybe if I was to do it I would cut the box right before it gets to the seat, so it's behind the passenger and center. I've tested out how much I could comfortably move up and really only 2 clicks is the most I can do.

True. Maybe measure the free room behind the seat and test some dimensions. Or just scrunch your passenger up haha

I rarely have anyone ride with me so it wouldn't be much of a deal.

Re: Show Your System
Hey guys, New to the Forum. I have a 87 Ext cab and I was curious if anyone has done or thaught about making a small bench seat/sub enclosure in the extra cab? I dont care for there being lots of leg/head room. Just enough to sit someone. (Or a small person) Haha. I really think it'd be a sick Idea. And anyone know where to get pods for 6" or 8" Speakers? Id like them up under the dash thanks!

Re: Show Your System
Hello all. This is my first post. Here is my system.
The head unit is a Kenwood.
Front door components are Polk. You can see the first attempt at mounting brackets in the pics. These were too thick and I eventually went with much thinner plastic ones. I had to dremel the interior door panel and add some foam so the door panel wouldn't hit the speaker surround.
The rear speakers are Infinity 6x8's. To fit these I had to dremel out the speaker mount. You might be able to see that I chose screws that were a tad too long, lol. The box was made by supercrewsound.com for this model truck and it fit's snug. The woofers are Sundown audio shallow mount 10's. I went with those grilles to keep the seats away from the woofers and still have enough leg room to be comfortable.
The amps are Precision Power. One 95w x 4 and One 1300w x 1. I used a kicker 0 gauge dual amp install kit. I've also done the big 3 and upgraded the alternator to a 200amp model. The last thing was the cover for the amps and wires. It is simply peg board coated with computer sound deadener foam. I think it is my favorite upgrade. :-)

My plan for my ext cab is to build a box for a couple of shallow mount 10s (12s if the volume is there) that will essentially be a false floor under the jump seats. I have to take the critical measurements, then I'm going to model everything up in SolidWorks so I can plan a good fit and verify volume. I'm thinking it will likely be a down-firing arrangement with the amp center mounted on the top - as the boys will ride in the back from time to time (I don't need children size 12 divots in my subs).
It will be a while before I get approval from the boss to buy this stuff, but for now, I'm looking at Pioneer TS-SW301 subs and an Alpine MRP-M500 (not 100% if that's enough amp for the subs). HOPEFULLY, I can get things rolling in about 6 months or so. I just got the HU and speakers, so I have to give a little time before hitting up the better half for another $400-$500.

That one is only 8gb, which is just big enough to fit my music. I will lose it one day I'm sure. I've left it in the pc at work a dozen times already.

Like a broken record, but peak wattages mean nothing. It's all about those RMS. The speakers are probably around 50-75w RMS and the amp (if the one pictured is yours) provides 125w RMS per channel. Just some FYI for you.

Are those Kicker boxes wired in parallel or you have each off a seperate channel on the amp ?
If those are the G series Pioneer coaxials, they handle 40 watts RMS each. If they are the D series, they handle 60.

One on each channel, doesn't sound half bad, but then again not looking to compete with anyone

I understand, but you can make them sound alot better if you have a mono input to the sub amp from the headunit and use the sub settings of the headunit and turn the filters off on the amp.
LPF - off. Bass boost 0. Bass boost on head 0. Lowpass filter on head 80. Bass level on head all the way up. Set EQ where you normally like everything. Use the sub out RCA's to the amp, but Y each to the amp inputs. Set your head volume on 54. Disconnect your sub wires from the amp outputs. Connect a DMM to each amp output channel (seperately) while playing a 50 hz test tone. Use the AC voltage 200 V setting of the DMM. Adjust the gain dial while looking for 22-23 VAC.
