I won't be sending them back. I've waited too long to get them in and they sound really good. There were 10 hours that my dad and i worked on it last Saturday. Also, there's been (like I said) an accident that ended in a cut in the surround.

I've had them for over a month, anyway. I probably couldn't return them if I wanted.

I know.. Lol. Save the door panels it's clean though. How much random wiring do you see all over the place? Does my amp look just thrown in there? Was it not smart where I put the crossovers? I'd say it's clean.

Accident? You slipped your drill and punched the surround?

My dad was screwing a screw into the MDF and it was almost in when it jumped and slipped and cut the surround. It sucks but since I've got them highpassed there isn't much big flexing and I can't tell a sound difference. It would be nice to fix it though.

Did you make sure to hit him with a "rookie" comment? Lol

I did that once on a $400 sub. Learned my lesson. The company covered it though

He still hasn't forgiven himself. He's taken it really hard :/ I told him its ok and either the woofer can be fixed or replaced but he's still crestfallen.

Default Show Your System

Well after stalking this thread for some time I finally got mine installed.

All started with a Soundstream RUB4.500 and kicker ks680's I got from a friend.

Then picked up all the wiring and a Sony DSX-S210X.

Finally thought I was missing a bit of the low end so I got an infinity basslink to fill it in.

Overall I'm darn happy with it. Never had an aftermarket system before and had no idea what I was missing!!

Nice clean install.

Do you have 4 of the Kicker coaxials, 1 in each door ?

Did not "HAVE TO BE DONE". I have 6.5's and they do not touch the door panel, even all passed playing below 80 where they move they don't touch. If my RF Powers can fit and the surround not touch the door then your POLK's can.

So the door panel was pushing on the surround when it was just sitting there, not playing. Are you saying there would have been a way around that?

Like, I took the panel off and you could see where dust from the grille pattern rubbed off on the surround. Pretty sure there wouldn't have been a way to get around that. It's really just not even a big deal though. So what I cut my panels? I can either make them look pretty or redo the whole thing and get new ones if I want to. I just wanted to get them in because I hadn't had a good sound in months.

Right now I plan on filling in what's left of the grille ridges, sanding the edges, and covering the holes with something. Maybe I'll integrate the grilles that came with the speakers, idk. It's whatever.

On another note, video form!

For real, I don't see you all freaking out when people do blow throughs, and that's cutting actual metal body that can't be exactly replaced to factory state. So I cut some plastic. What of it, lol.

The Polk grilles might actually look OK. I would be afraid of the woofers getting harmed more like kicked.

You aren't originally from Alabama, are you ? You sound like a yankee.

Yes, your mic does handle bass alot better than most. The system sounds good ! Do you have the tweeters attenuated down ? Did you use a DMM to set the gains, and did you use 100 watts for the figures ?

Oh, and your subwoofer isn't wired parallel, your amp output is bridged to the subwoofer, unless you are saying it is a DVC 8 ohm, then you could have both.

Forgot to ask - Why is there MDF in the doors ? If you made brackets for the speakers with MDF, then they spaced the woofers out too much, and that's why they are touching the door panels. If you had ordered 6.5/6.75" speakers from a reputable online store, they would have included brackets that do not add to the speaker mounting height.
