2 12" Duals in a ported box just fits in the back, didnt even have to take out the seats. powered by some shitty amp that came with it. I traded my mini bike(which wasnt running) for the subs, amp, and $25 cash. The amp says Patriot on it but i couldnt find another one like it online. its a piece a junk but it still works so im happy

I've got a 2005 Edge with the Tremor Package, which originally had the 6 CD Changer HU in it, but after a while it had mechanical failure and wasn't spitting out or taking in CDs right...and I got sick of using an FM transmitter to play music from my MP3 player, as it would always cut out and you'd hear a bad background static.

I ended up swapping the HU for a Pioneer AVH-P3400BH, seen here:

It works a lot better, connects to my Motorola Droid 4 through Bluetooth and even lists my tracks.

I also added a couple of old Rockford Fosgate Punch Z 8" subs to give it a bit more kick, with a Rockford Fosgate P300-1 Mono amp to power them (which is slightly overkill):

The problem I ran into...as is known with the Tremor Package when making any changes, is that the stock 510 watt Amplifier that comes with the system won't run right when the stock Tremor HU isn't present...so currently the stock amplifier is running the 4 door speakers and the 10" sub in the enclosure in the back, there's a background white noise whenever the HU is operation because it's constantly searching for a signal, and the 10" enclosed sub is barely operating.

My proposed plan to fix this: I will be getting http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-PBR300X4-Compact-Amplifier/dp/B004T163SY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT2_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3EJPYP3E87L3C&coliid=I3JJ746A8NPAS to power the door speakers and have the original Tremor 10" powered by the 510 watt factory amp.

Depending on whether or not THAT sounds good, I may be replacing the factory Amp and Subs all together, in which case I'll replace it with the MTX Thunderform Dual 10" Sub enclosure for Rangers, have the RF P300-1 power it and get a third amp, probably http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-PBR300X1-compact-Amplifier/dp/B004T163PW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3EJPYP3E87L3C&coliid=IIP6ZDE9A5RHR to power the two 8s.

Mind you I don't listen to a ton of rap or bass heavy music, it's mostly Death metal, but I do on occasion pop in some Prodigy, so it's nice to have the boom when needed.

What'ya think? Suggestions? Am I on the right track? Thanks!

You will need to completely bypass that stock system to ever get the aftermarket components to work right with it. None of it is compatible with the aftermarket components. BTW, Pioneer and Ford might say it's 510 watts, but it's not. The best you can hope for is to power the 2 front door speakers (a component set will work best) and the 2 8" subs with a 4 channel amp, bandpassing the 8" subs at maybe 80-120 hz, lowpass the Pioneer 10" sub at maybe 75 hz, and highpass the front door speakers at 125 hz. Otherwise, you are bound to have a multitude of phasing and cancellation issues. More speakers aren't necessarily better. You best sound quality is most likely achieved with a component set up front for the full range at 125 hz and up and 1 sub system in back at 100 hz and lower. Your headunit can do the latter with it's built-in crossover filters and the former will need crossovers added. The type music you listen to works very well with a 10" sealed sub system with at least 2X the power of the full range system. So, if you have 100 watts RMS to each of the front doors, you will need at least 400 watts RMS to the sub system in back.

Wow, that's a lot of good info, GLH! Thank you. So I should probably just plan on getting rid of that Tremor box/amp all together and replace it with the Dual 10" Thunderform enclosure, and maybe run it with this?:
http://www.amazon.com/Brand-Rockford-Fosgate-R750-1D-Amplifier/dp/B0072NYUTK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3EJPYP3E87L3C&coliid=IF851EHULYE9P
And since by that time I'll have 3 amplifiers...this as well?

http://www.amazon.com/Power-Acoustik-PCX-3F-3-Farad-Capacitor/dp/B001588JXQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3EJPYP3E87L3C&coliid=I1EER9OJA4KQ9O
Let me know if you think that'll work. Thanks again, Chief.

Just say NO!!!! to capacitors...they aren't worth the expense. If you really want to feel some bass out of the tremor setup, eliminate the factory amp and use an higher-end after market amp on the tremor sub, that puts out atleast 500 watts rms, and do away with the other subs, your pockets and your ears will thank you.

That Pioneer 'tremor' sub will not handle 500 watts RMS.

I am not saying feed the sub 500 watts but if an amp is capable of 500 Watts it can be tuned to fit the sub better than the factory amp and not work as hard increasing the efficiency of the amp, sound quality of the sub, and running cooler temperatures. Anyone have the specs of the tremor sub?

The stock amp and the stock sub-with the enclosure/built in EQ/crossover filters, etc., were made to all work together seamlessly by Pioneer and Ford engineers.

I could have sworn you could bypass the factory eq and crossover...i have to double check my old install notes....also sometimes the audio companies and vehicle manufacturers produce over priced garbage......some of those "Bose" systems in vehicles for instance.

Seeing as how you appear to be the owner of an Alpine system, you know cheap crap when you see it, and clearly went for the opposite...Alpine is excellent.

The stock heads can also have EQ and filtering built-in.

Well I did a bit of research and I'm glad you all said something, as getting a Cap would've definitely been a total waste for me. Every Tremor model Ranger comes with the higher output Alternator, which I think they cannibalized from the Explorer. Standard is 95 amps, mine is evidently 130, so I should be good unless I go hog-wild, and seeing as how I would like to keep my sense of hearing...heh. I'll be going with getting that little 4 channel Rockford Fosgate amp to clear out the signal to the door coaxial speakers, and swapping out the factory amp for something sufficient to power that 10" sub. I'll post pics once I get the whole system rigged up! Thanks again.
