Obsidian, Sundown SA, Skar VVX, Audioque SDC2.5, Ascendant Audio Arsenal, DAD KMH, etc are all solid 2.5" voice coil subs that would work well mated with a quality 1500 watt amp. Any bigger than 1500 you'll be needing to upgrade electrical so I'd stop at that point. Pair them with a good custom box and you'll be impressed.
1500 watts RMS Class D, right ?

I personally would pair it to a Class D... but I also have love for some old school A/B surfboards, much harder on electrical though.

As far as upgrading electrical, I would think anything more powerful than a 1000 watts RMS Class D amp would require some type of upgrade. Class D is usually 80% efficient, unless it is flea market junk.

1500 watts can typically be done on stock electrical in most instances. I always recommend doing the Big 3 upgrade along with it (I recommend this for ANY system I install regardless of size). After 1500 you need to look into more electrical.

I still think you should say 1500 watts RMS Class D. A Class AB amp (not fleamarket junk) is typically 60% efficient and a Class D typically 80% efficient, so it will matter.

We had established in the last post before that we were talking about Class D. Not very many people offer a 1500 watt class A/B for the type of price range he's looking for currently anyway.

Good luck with the Mechman, there older stuff was great but I've had a few issues with their newer stuff. Not at all talking bad about Mechman, they are a proven company just every company can and will have problems some times.

Whats the idle output on that one again?
