It is an old Kenwood KAC-1502S. My buddy had it collecting dust in his basement so he gave it to me. Says it constantly draws power but I'll fix that with a switch if need be.

The two JLs I have slap pretty damn hard...I need to check out that yard sale and get me something new though since I've had these for nearly 6 years. But it has to be louder. My wife won't ride in the truck with me now unless I turn the bass completely off, lol.

Think i'm going in another direction with my setup.

Gonna run a Dayton Audio RS 18" sealed up in 3ish cubes.

Run the 2k at 4 ohms and get into to 90%'s for efficiency.

Rated for 900 rms @ 4ohm's (Sub) and the amp should give me 700w cleanly, is that a word ?

Not a sundown nazi lol but I am a big fan of skar audio. A lot cheaper and it's basically the same stuff. Original dude from sundown and skar were partners. Guy broke off and made skar.

I have 2 vd10s and they kick!!

yes I do in a bad way lol. JLs are stupid expensive but the way I've treated these w1s they are probably worth it. Come winter time I'm going to build a box to spec probably for some sa 12s, not sure yet, but my plan it to hopefully have them down firing and the top of the box level all the way across my back seat area so I can still somewhat utilize what little space I have. That's why the box is like it is bc as you can see I always have stuff back there

There are a lot of good reviews on Skar audio. Most likely what I'm going to end up with since you can get 2 vd10s for $160. Either those or 2 of these.

I paid $220 plus tax on my vd10s from the local car audio shop. Plus $175 for my box and $200 for my amp. Then about another $80 for wiring kit and 0 gauge big 3 kit. Getting ready to swap out the 4 gauge wiring for 0 gauge. Should have done it to begin with.

I doubt I'll go any bigger than just 2 10s. Will 4 gauge be enough?

4 gauge will work. Get a better wiring kit. I have a sky high car audio 4 gauge kit. $40 on eBay. Great quality. I'm running 4 gauge. I'm upgrading to 0 gauge. But I'm pushing those subs at 1000 watts rms. They pound. I believe they can take 600-700 watts rms a piece. I'm not gonna crank them up though as I don't wanna blow mine up lol.

----------

That box looks like it should work. The subs have a massive surround. So they need a taller box than your average sub.

I know someone who got those r2's on a trade and said they are terrible.
