RAP and HIPHOP demands a ported system and METAL demands a double 10" sealed. Your sub will sound best in a sealed enclosure like we discussed before. It is not meant for a ported enclosure.

If you want a ported enclosure, you should pick your 1 or 2 - 12" subs and amp, then have a ported system custom made and port-tuned to around 35-40 hz. Keep in mind you will need a subsonic filter 5 hz below the tuning frequency of the box.

Sealed is sounding lots better again, right ?

Thanks man I really appreciate your help. I am a complete novice to audio car systems. Anything helps. With tight funds I'll prolly just throw something together. And when money allows I plan on double 10s in a box, ported or sealed, not sure yet. Thanks again everyone!

Alrighty, I picked up a cheap Best Buy box. Now to mount the sub, I know pre drilling holes is needed, but what size screws should I use. I have some 12x3/4 sheet metal screws. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Been waiting on my second amp and my sub/box to get here. Finally came today. It took me forever to find a sub and amps that I wanted that would fit behind the seats in my regular cab. Here it is,RF 500.1 amp(320 RMS@4ohms),JL W1v2 10'' in sealed box(300W RMS@4 ohms)and I recently got the Boston(60Wx2)from Crutchfield for the 5x7 Polk db's.
http://http://
I had to cut my cab wall cover for the box to fit.I got the cut perfect but have a little bit of black marker to dye over(can't see it anyway when seats are back.Wiring is going to be fun.Luckily I have the vinyl floor and it has plenty slack.

The box in my truck is alittle bigger than that, but I wish I could find one like yours, it looks like its just the right size for back there.

I'm not liking this though. The RF amp was advertised as new but it isn't.The ground screw is missing. You can see where cables rubbed against the edge of it and there are several small chips and scratches. There is also dirt and dust in the crevices.I'm gonna call SonicElectronx about it but if it works,Ill keep it.This must be why it was $50 more for the same amp @Crutchfield.Also the sub box has a spot where there is no carpet.Again I don't care because you can't see it,just sayin.

Yeah I didn't want to waste that extra inch of depth,so I had to find one shorter than 12 1/4".You can trim up to an inch of the cover because there's nothin behind it.I didn't lose any legroom.

While I was at it I took a pic of the car system. This summer I'm gonna build/have built a custom box.I don't know how feasible it is but I want one sub sealed and one ported or bandpassed.http://

Have a Sony CD/WMA/MP3 head unit, Front Kenwood KFC (5x7s), Rear Planet Audio (5x7s), 10" MTX subwoofer powered by an oldie but goodie MTX Blue Thunder Pro.. I would post pics but I made the box (did a good job building it) but I ordered some tan fabric to match my interior to line to box's exterior (Pretty bad job of it, rather shamed of it lol).. For being a budget-built system, it sounds REAL good. I listen to anything that will test this system. :-D
