Re: Show Your System
All i meant was that they where fairly accurate with their volumes and tuning, not suggesting you go ported. It was built with 5/8ths and a 3/4" baffle IIRC.
I had a pretty sweet sealed set up in my reg. cab '94. i still curse myself to this day for not taking any pictures of it.
ETA - thats a nice looking box in that link

What box? The Q bomb? Or the tan one? I just don't wanna buy the wrong one and it sounding like crap because the box flexes or something. Think may go with the carpet because it will match the truck a lot better.

Re: Show Your System
Yeah it's hard to justify supporting a brick and mortar shop when you can get it for 1/2 that online, i don't mind paying a small premium to support stores but thats to much.
I'd have to disagree with you Devan, you can change the frequency response curve and power handling capabilities pretty good even with a sealed box by tweaking the volume of the enclosure.

Gonna order the Rodney's box that's tan carpet. It's the only one that will work. The subs surround would rub the floor with the other boxes. They won't raise the box enough. Also the Rodney's box is thicker.

Re: Show Your System
Not that it needs to be said but post some pictures up when you get everything gathered/installed.

Re: Show Your System
Those 10's looks pretty sweet! that will bump and sound good doing it.
You'd probably sacrifice a bit of low end too going with the six's.
I was reading on CACO that Sundown is working on a 6.5" sub using a neo magnet (might be a Z series) they're gonna have a 3" coil in them apparently. Not sure what kind of magic Jacob is gonna use to get the spiders in them.

I haven't used anything smaller than an 8.. My brain doesn't rap around the idea of 6.5s and how they will be loud I just don't get it lol. And yeah they should sound good. Gonna be at 500 watts rms a piece. Wiring them together at 1 ohm. Gonna mount the amp on the back wall. Clean and tucked won't see anything.

Re: Show Your System
I've watched this video with a DD 6.5 and it opened my eyes to the potential that that size has.
Don't imagine they would a whole lot sealed but ported, i was impressed!

Played with the quantum sub I have. I think I blew it lol. It's all scratchy. Still pounds but it scratches. Also had the guy text me that bought my L7 trying to tell me that the subs causing his amp to go to protect. And that someone told him its blown. Said no that's bullshit because the sub was in my truck for weeks and I never had an issue. And that you heard it and seen it playing. Asked if his amp was 1 ohm stable. He said idk it's a kicker amp. Lol told him to rewire it. And to tune the amp with a dmm. Wasn't blown when I had it. If he blew it. Not my problem because he's not getting his money back. Feel like a dick saying that but he seen it and heard it. And I had it for weeks playing in the truck and I beat on it and never had an issues.
