Depending on the sub. Some have wider parameters. Some have much narrower requirements.

I'm just gonna go with a prefab box. Not sure yet what I'm gonna do. Possibly gonna sell it. Also don't have Facebook lol.

There are pretty solid prefab boxes if you shop around.
Life after bass has good boxes with decent specs
----------
Even some of the ebay boxes have decent specs and good port volume

That box in the pic is solid. 3/4 mdf and double stacked 3/4 for the face. Heavy as can be.

The difference is a custom made box is made to the exact parameter requirements of a given subwoofer. Also, some subs won't work well in a ported box and some won't work well in a sealed box. 7 different 12" subs will have 7 different box volume and port requirements. Also, the fabricator will know the exact volume of the box after sub installation, the exact dimensions of the port(s), and the exact frequency to use for choosing an amp and setup.

I don't have a ranger anymore. In a f150. And the only thing it could've been was the amp was already on its way out. All bass boost was down and gain off. Didn't even have enough time to start tuning it.

Looks like I'll be rebaffling the wall over winter break. Switching to drivers side port and will be painting the wall the dark blue to color match the truck instead of the shittty carpet I have now
