The two 6x9's I bought are 5-way. They sound great. And they weren't cheap.

Yes, and our ears really only enjoy up to 15k hz, which is easily accomplished with 1 tweeter, whether it is 2" or .5".

It means that's how many speakers there are. On a 2-way, there would be the regular woofer along with a single tweeter able to withstand a specific limit of hz. So a three way speaker would include the woofer along with the two tweeters and so forth. My dad put 4-way speakers in his F150 FX4. And it sounds great. Of course he has four of them since he has 4 doors. I only put two in the ext. cab of my ranger. But they still sound great. Not taking away from a 2-way speaker because they sound good too. A 5-way is just what I wanted so I don't see why I'm getting so much criticism because of it.

Because we know audio better than you. That simple.
More tweeters doesn't mean better sound. I guarantee that if you heard QUALITY component speakers, or even quality coaxial speakers for that matter...you would never buy "5" way speakers again

With all those tweeters it doesn't make a difference. It's mind over matter the human ear can't pick up on the difference

Show Your System
Also a three way is usually a mid bass (woofer) a mid range and a tweeter.
Unless its a coaxial. The it's usually just two tweeters (for no reason other then so people can say 'yeah bro 3/4/5 way) on a mid.

I thought you'd never ask
Couple of Sundowns SCV-2000D & SAE-50.4
Not my amp below but it is the same model so i can expect similar numbers.
^^^ per channel (4)
They should be in hand in the next 48 (fingers crossed)
----------
The amp is going to be pushing the 10" (dual 2) version of this 12".
They are rated for 1.5kw, him pushing with the 12" with 2kw+ freeair doesn't make me worry to much about going over rms rating.
