Bass is omnipresent. Shouldn't be able to tell from where it eminates. Tweeters and vocals are your soundstage.

My sweet $370CDN system, that includes the sheet of MDF ha

JVC KW-AVX720 - Free
Clarion XR2420 $100 on black friday
Kenwood KFC-P509PS
4 x Dayton Audio SD215A-88 in roughly 3.5 tuned to 38ish

I'm pretty surprised with how it sounds for basically no power, the subs are getting a rated 180RMS Doors are getting a rated 60RMS

The box is not finished, I slapped it together and chucked it in.

Its nice to see people building custom enclosures. There is so much more potential in a well built custom box rather than a crappy prefab box

I'd show, but installation still "In Progress".
Right now, waiting for rain/snow to clear out
and warmer temps to return, so I can continue
installation outdoors, where I have better lighting!

Type S are great subs! I have a type R 8 on an alpine mrv250. Also have the mrv500 and absolutely love the setup!

Never had a system in a car/truck before. Best system ive ever heard was the Bose system in the Miata I used to own- and Miatas are supposedly acoustically terrible. Got the following on the way for my Ranger:

Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit
Polk Audio PA4000.4 4 channel class D amplifier
Pioneer TS-D1602R coaxials (running front stage only)
Pioneer TS-SWX2502 compact sealed 10" subwoofer
4 gauge amp kit
Stuff to prep the doors (dynamat, etc)

The sub speaker is supposed to be pretty good, but the box its in is prolly too small (so it will fit behind the seat without affecting my ability to put the seat back, but at the cost of boominess). I wanted to retain as much useful space in the back as possible, and wanted the sub to be down-firing so its protected. I figure between the crossover (ill prolly run it at 63hz with a medium octave slope) and the 80PRS's awesome eq, I should be able to get it all balanced.

I wanted to get some JBL P660C components for the front stage, but I just cant swing it right now (mechanical stuff took precedence). My plan eventually is to go 3 way active with the polk amp running the JBL woofers and tweeters, and get a mono or 2channel bridgeable amp to run the sub. I might even mess with the TS-D pioneers and see if I can run them active later.

For now the 2 front channels will run the coaxials and the rear 2 channels ill run bridged to drive the sub.

Excited Let me know if any of you guys have suggestions and ill post pics when its done. I hope the new Remy 110 amp alternator I got for the truck will be enough...

I do not like class d for my highs and mids. Too noisy. That Pioneer downfire will surprise you, given rated power. I have 2.
