Amplifier argument - The lower the ohmload, the less efficient the amplifier is. Point blank. Now shut up.
No one has mentioned rise - in any way shape or form. Just because you are wired to 2ohms does NOT mean you're seeing 500w rms. Likely, your rise is at LEAST 2x, which puts you at 4ohm after rise, depending on how hot the woofer is, box design, frequency, etc.
And why didn't I get nominated for a FRF know it all audio person? Sad.
I'll post some pictures of equipment in upcoming weeks - might even post a video of us trying/probably blowing my Exo

i recognize your s/n from one of those other car audio sites (CACO, CSCO, or CA.com)
and about rise, ESPECIALLY so on music. can somewhat manage for burps but no way on music.

CSCO is where I'm at for the most part these days - CACO turned into a bunch of damn Nazi's.
Blow through isn't that hard, really. Have to cut a hole in the bed of the truck and the back of the cab - cut some weather stripping for around the holes you cut so that you don't have jagged edges laying around, use some according boot between the bed and the cab, put in the speaker box and seal it off from the rest of the bed. 99% of people doing this use a tonneau cover or something of the sorts to keep water out of the bed of the truck.

Re: Show Your System
Just got this put in yesterday and so far has exceeded my expectations. couldn't be happier with how it turned out. So far at around 70 to 80% volume it becomes difficult to breath but still maintain's great SQ.

Working on a long project, have 1 SA-12 running on an old lightning audio amp. Not bad, but could use so much more power. The box is built for two seperate enclosures on the inside, about 1.5 cubic ft on each tuned to 32 hz. This Thing slams. Blew the other 12, so waiting on a new one of them and a sundown Saz-1500. Box will eventually be rhinolined and have flushmounts

Jono - don't take this the wrong way, because the setup looks great and I'm sure it sounds great too!
But GLH - you boast about your knowledge too much, man. Come on. The Focal components are pretty smooth nice components, I will give you that.
My personal preferences - w7 is a good sub, but HIGHLY overpriced and overrated, sorry.
JL Slash series amps are pretty good amps! But their technology causes them to be highly inefficient.
Also, I'll post a picture of the way my truck is sitting right now while we were blowing my speaker up.

Re: Show Your System

I've had this for a few weeks now and really like it.I also got the Polk db 5x7s(built in crossovers) for the door, blew one of them and got them replaced.i'm less than impressed with the speakers.
Gonna eventually build a box and get a 4 channel amp.
