No shit "1,000w is a 1,000w" but you need a stronger electrical system to pull 1kw at 1 ohm verse 1kw at 2 ohm.

No... It all depends on how the amp is manufactured. For example, Audiopipe 3000 puts out 3k at 2 ohm and something like 2k at 1 ohm. So obviously your theory doesn't work here.

The charging system of your vehicle does not care what impedance load your speakers/subwoofers are. It is trying to supply enough current to make whatever wattage your amp(s) are pushing to that load. If your amp is pushing 1000 watts to a 1 ohm load or 1000 watts to a 2 ohm load, it is still 1000 watts for the charging system of your vehicle to supply enough current to. That is as simple an explanation there is.

Glad to see some nice stuff in here
Heres mine:
consists of:
2 SA12s
sundown saz 1500dv1
sundown sax 125.2 bridged at @ 2ohms
Stinger spv70 in the back
3 coats of EdeadV3 everywhere
2 sets of Audiopipe Components (surprisingly nice speakers)
Custom doors and pillars
only got it metered once with crap voltage 144.7 at 33 at headrest (MECA)

Now heres what i got to play with after Xmas:
2 SA8s (thinking about gettin 2 more, and running 4 and dropping my amp to .5)
2 DD 1508s (powdercoated blue baskets, fresh recones)
also have a SKAR vvx12 sitting here, as well as a Inciminator Audio King Of Bass Motor.

To simplify, 1ohm = 100% of rated power. 2ohm = 50% of rated power. 3ohm = 33%. 4ohm = 25% and so on
(where ohm represents speaker load on amp)

However, a 1ohm load on a NON 1ohm stable amp will burn it up. For instance, a 600w amp rated at 2ohms will attempt to put out 1200w at 1ohm. Thus, frying the amp.

Here is the formula: Amplifier Output = Amplifier Watts x (Amplifier Rated at Ohms / Speaker Chain Ohms)
So, 1000w amp rated at 1ohm with a 1ohm load.
Amplifier Output = 1000w x (1ohm / 1ohm load)
Amplifier Output = 1000w x (1)
Amplifier Output = 1000w
Lets try 1000w amp rated at 1ohm with a 2ohm load.
Amp Out = 1000w x (1ohm / 2ohm load)
1000w x .5
Amp out = 500 watts with a 2ohm speaker load.

the problem with your theory is that not all amps are rated at 1 ohm, nor did you specifiy this is what you were referring to. your math is right, but most mainstream amps are rated at 2 or 4 ohms.
i think your latest example is best, but your original statement was a little too vague to make sense.

so explain how amps rated at 1 ohm can run at .5.....for instance my saz1500d rated at 1500 @1ohm but can be ran at .5. ive even seen a pair strapped at .5ohms (each amp at .25ohms and that was on a 16v setup.

I was referring to a 1ohm stable amp. But, does not matter. 2ohm or 4ohm amps, same math applies. Can you run a 2ohm amp with a 1ohm load? sure, just expect your amp to burn up.
Here is the math on a 5oow 2ohm amp:
500w x(2ohm / 4ohm)
5oow x (.5)
250w of supplied power to subs at 4ohm.
Lets take that same 2ohm amp with a 2ohm load (speakers)
500w x (2ohm / 2ohm)
500w x (1)
500w of supplied power to subs at 2ohm

I dont care what the amp is, this is ohms law. This is how it works. There is no denying it!
If you want to pull the full power out of an amp, the subs need to match. Dont expect 500w out of a 500w 2ohm amp if you have a 4ohm load on the sub end.

i completely understand that but im just saying that with an adequate electrical system it is possible to run a amp lower than its rated. Not all amps obviously but some are strong enough. Granted 95% of the time box rise will put you above your nominal impedence anyways.

Running a Kicker CVX 12 on a 800 watt Diamond Audio amp. For the mids and highs i have 4 Arc Audio 5x7s and 1 Arc Audio 300.2 (rated at 700). This system hits waaaay hard.
