Re: Show Your System
I tryed a few different spl meter apps for my droid, seemed to be pretty accurate for anything under 100 db. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go any higher then I read some reviews and found out that most phone speakers can't register anything over 100db. Kinda bummed now lol

Re: Show Your System
so i have a question for you guys.. basically I am looking at 2 amps.
amp1= 1800@1ohm. i would be running at .6ohms with this amp. amp is a bit cheaper
amp2=2000@2ohms. I would be at around 2.2 i believe if I wired it in series.
basically, would runing at 2ohms be easier on my electrical system? I read that somewhere, but who knows if thats true as its on the interwebz

ohms is not what matters, it's current that matters, but I don't believe either the 1800 or the 2000
makes and models of the amps ?

The lower the ohm load of the amp, the more current it draws. For example, my amp at .5 ohm, draws more than my amp at 2ohm.

Re: Show Your System
Sure. I just meant an amp putting out 1000 watts at a 2 ohm load is not drawing more current than an amp putting out 1000 watts at a 1 ohm load. ... and ... your ears probably aren't going to disearn a db increase from 1800 watts to 2000 watts. ... and ... I don't believe those ratings are RMS ... probably peak or max which is meaningless.

What? 1000w at 1 ohm will draw more power than 1000w at 2 ohm. And that is RMS for those amps. Chris knows enough about audio to know the difference between RMS and Max.

Do one mean 15" on ~1,500w.

Re: Show Your System
You could do that if you did the 4 12's idea.

No. 1000 watts is the power. The ohms is just the resistance to the power, it's still drawing 1000 watts if there is enough current from the charging system. 1000 watts is 1000 watts.

Re: Show Your System
fwiw, a 1000w amp with a 1 ohm load will push/draw 1000w of power to the subs. That same 1000w with a 2ohm load will only push/draw 500w of power to the subs. If you have 1ooow amp and a .5ohm load, it will try to push/draw 1500w and fry the amp
