You can make audisson sound like crap if bad eq/components upstream.

I had the same problem, i ended up cutting a 2x1 slot above and below (2 holes) the logo inside the baffle, I also stuffed all of them with polyfil.

Now they sound awesome, i include that advice when ever i discuss it with other people because the muffling effect seems to be a common problem with every one who has dealt with them.

Just dont use them at all. A Ford engineer told me the doors are designed to not hinder acoustics and its actually the case with most vehicle doors or interior panels where speakers are installed oem.

i was thinking about getting explorer seats but might make my knees too close to the steering wheel. Wouldn't mind mounting it under the passenger seat on small tracks so if I ever wanna adjust anything it can slide out from under the seat.

I bought that Rockford Fosgate 200.2 amp back from my friend

----------

Going from two L7s on 1600w rms to the P3 Shallow on 400w is a big difference.

best sub I've ever heard was an older sound stream. Possibly some kicker CVR's, also had a freon with two 12" Alpine Type R's in his Tahoe which sounded very nice. I said not terribly expensive but I'm still willing to lay down Benjamin's for a good quality sub. I just don't want to pay a lot for shit. I want to get what I pay for.

i was curious to recommendations. I'm not opposed to spending the right amount for a quality sub. I'm building another box for the truck anyway so wanted to search around

This is coming from a Sundown Audio nuthugger but i would look into the SD-2 10" from them.

It has a mounting depth of 4.94" and no pole vent on the back of the magnet so it can be put right up against the back of an enclosure.

Link to website with more info

There are no doubt many other options, just putting this one out there for you.

In my truck I went with a alpine type r 8 in a prefab .3 cu sealed box with alpine mrv250 amp. I love the combo. The sub is awesome. It's small but it doesn't sound small. For the room I have to work with it's perfect.

Those metal brackets are little steel plates I bent and painted to hold my sub from falling forward. They work awesome. My amp you can't really see but it's behind my full length console and is actually skinnier then the console itself it's tiny. I went from 2 12 audiobahn 1208t in a 5 cu ported box at 34 htz to the type r and it's no where near the same. But I really was impressed. The type r can handle a little over 300 rms and My amp will put out 250 maybe a little more. And it still is loud and clean. I am very happy with it. Just a thought for you. I payed $100 brand new for it from techtonics.com it's the black cone model dvc 4 ohm, wired 2 ohm.

Sundown is an option. ( I have no personal experience ). The Type R comes in a slim and sounds good for a slim. I'm a big fan of Hertz, very good stuff for the money. JL as well. I've even heard great things about the new Excelon subs. Low cost but sound great

Like I told you before, you need to make the enclosure then measure the volume of that enclosure, then find a subwoofer that will work with it. Sealed enclosure, right ?

Your Type R is rated @ 350 watts RMS and your sealed box is the perfect size for it. Another 100 clean watts would wake it up.
