But the issue with clamping is that the meters (voltage, ammeter) record the max value but they don't necessarily occur at the same time so you can't just do (volts x amps = watts) there is a power factor you have to find and add in to the equation to get watts. With Ac power if you just multiply volts and amps you end up with Va not watts (I think, don't quote me I've been drinking atm lol)

I'm not trying to belittle you or anything just wanna make sure the proper equations are used to get an accurate measurement. While I'm not at the same level as you, I'm a fellow basshead in for the fun of the addiction lol
I'll prolly see this in the morning and think wtf was I thinking lol thank god for auto correct

Honestly, exact pinpoint accuracy isn't a remote concern for me. I could care less how much power I make I'm just concerned with the score, however this is a good method to use to see if the changes I have made did increase power, which in turn increases in my goal.

I bought a prefabed box from mobile sound works.

Had to take about an 1/8" more out from the cutout to get it to fit.

What changes did you make? I see that DCV value needs to increase dramatically!

I agree that calculating apparent power instead of real power for the strict purpose of seeing a change is adequate in most situations. That being said I only ever clamped an ammeter and can't recall any significant voltage measurements on my outputs. I did religiously meter my supply voltage though.

In all honesty, if your amp is making 400 watts, your box rise is in double digits, and your supply is dwindling into the singles, it doesn't matter so long as that number on the screen keeps going up.

Considering I'm running a single alt with potential current draw of over 2000 amps I'm not terribly concerned with my 12.88v drop on a burp at this point. I had an issue with my input signal I was able to fix and rescope for this particular change. At this point I'm concerned with cutting my 1.58 reactive down. Slightly over 400 watts in this case though lol.

Considering I have a single 350A alt I'm relatively happy with only dropping 2v from my warm charging point. That's with 8 runs from front to back, few extra frame grounds on rear, the single g34R Red Top under the hood with 10 Odyssey PC1700's in the back with custom buss bars. My class (not to mention my engine bay ) Limits me to 2 alts, I have the bracket but also have 2 custom alts in the works so waiting on them to put it on. At that point I'll be adding my other 6 PC1700's, and 2 more 9.0k's. It's hard to hold almost 13v with this much power on tap, I'm relatively pleased.

I totally read that wrong.
I thought you had said a single alt with 2000A output. Ha ha ha.

For 2 9k's on 10 G31's , I'd say that 12.8 drop is pretty decent!
Can't wait to see the dual alt setup.

LOL Not sure my tired old 5.4 could turn a 2000A alt, but we will see how it does with 800A worth of Mike Singer power before long

I'll be putting up some pictures when I get it all on, just milking what I can out of the two before I add the rest of the electrical and amps.
