I use the female/spade connectors and also solder them in tight. If you change out speakers or wire, just heat the connector and melt off the solder/pull it apart.

i have a 96 xlt and had a am/fm cassette and i bought a am/fm cassette cd player that was oe for a explorer and bought a adaptor kit wied it in and installed into the dash no cutting required and it works great and only cost 40 dollars total

On the picture I have here the wire on the right (green red strip) looks to be thicker then the other one (white with green stripe). Dose this mean the one on the right is positive? Cause it is thicker? Same with the other side but different colors.

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger with a 4.0 in it with a 5 speed manual transmission. It has 4 wheel drive also along with a step side bed. Every thing is stock so far lol!

Next time leave a little wire and touch the ends to an AA battery and see what way the cone moves on the factory speaker. Cone pops out...wrong polarity. Cone pops in...

If I'm reading that right you have it backwards. When you have the polarity right the speaker will pop out.
