You guys are some paranoid fucks, I've used wire nuts for every thing and in the 4 years it's been done I've had 0 problems what so ever, I've only used solder on one thing and that was my trigger wire for my horns under the truck, other than that it's wire nuts or pinched slide on connecters, it's a pain todo and pointless to solder unless completely necessary like it harsh conditions like under the truck, other than that ill always use wire nuts if you use them right you can't hardly pull them off only twist and at that it may take some time for it to let it go. I work in an accessories truck shop we use butt connectors all day for wiring CHMSL but when I do stereo installs I use crimp caps. If I had the time I would solder and shrink wrap all the connections. So now that this discussion is done. On to the next boys!

I only use solder and heatshrink or heatshrink and butt connects or spades on my stuff.

Why do it twice if you only need to do it once.

All the wiring in mytruck I have done with butt connectors. Stereo, ohc, autodim everything. No issues at all. I wrap all the connections in electrical tape also to make sure they don't get shorted. 0 issues. Many people do different things. Not every single person has a soldering gun and heat shrink. So not everyone is going to do that. There is no issue with butt connectors or crimp style connectors. They do there job. If you have moisture building up then you have an issue.

Butt connects are fine. As long as you don't do that hack job 2 wires In one end and leave the other end open shit that American pride was talking about.

What's wrong with this? It is a direct wire to wire connection that is crimped like a butt connector. Oh wait. It is a butt connector.

I think someone has never seen an actual butt connector used even with wires in both ends...they're not sealed and "crap" can get in just the same. Lol

I don't care what anyone says crap will get into any kind if connection. Doesn't matter if it's heat shrunken or connected with god knows what. If shit wants to get In the connection it will doesn't matter how it's connected.

That would be why I tape them up. We'll I mainly try to keep the wires from getting shorted or anything.

This thread needs more "show your system" and less "my wires are bigger than your wires"
