A set of components in front and no rears in a single cab. Components in front and coaxials in rear in an ext cab. I am running Kappa coaxials in front and a single 10" in back in an ext cab and it is a top notch sound quality setup. Can get way louder than you want also and the single 10" can blur all the mirrors if you want. Sealed.

Todays 6x8's have just as good sound quality and mid-bass as 6.5". Only reason I would ever use a 6.5" instead is if I do 6.5" midbass/midrange in back doors.

Maybe it's just because my sub and amp aren't so high powered that I can't hear a difference. I really just need to amp my damn speakers already. I blew one because the headunit caused it to clip when my friend was listening to music. Luckily the dealer is awesome and was willing to give me a new set. I really wish I took your guys' advice and amped them from the get go.

Mine aren't amped either. And for rear speakers I wanna keep my rears, I can hear the difference if they aren't there. I haven't had a set of components and don't exactly know what to do with tweeters. I want a decent set of components up front with a set of coax in rear.

With the right set of coaxials in front, you can point the tweeters across the cab to each headrest. You want the tweeters mounted as close as possible to the midwoofer, anyway. I can' tell much difference in sound with rear speakers in my supercab 4 door as I want it faded more toward the front anyway for the best soundstaging. You can run an efficient pair of coaxials off headunit-only power in the rear for some midrange fill. A lot of SQ systems are setup like that.

Hertz speakers are good. Says they will handle 100-200 watts rms so amp will be needed to make them sound good I'm gonna get hertz 6x8 components

Question. Is bigger the speaker the better?

Different size speakers will do different things. Like a 5 1/4 will have more vocals where a 6x8 will have more midbass. I would suggest getting 6x8s

I have 4 kicker 6x8 in factory locations. Are you adding a sub also? I highly suggest if you are putting new speakers in put a 4 channel amp in too. Cause the amp will give the speakers more power. An after market headunit only puts out about 17watts rms max and a factory unit less then that. Most speakers are good for 50watts rms or more. Component speakers have seperate tweeters, as coaxials have the tweeter built on. My speakers are hooked up to my headunit but it's getting changed. The 6x8s have a larger diameter of a cone so they will give more bass then a 6 1/2

Yes eventually I will be adding a sub right in the center of the cab between the jump seats. Iam doing one piece at a time. What do you think is the best sounding speaker kicker? Alpine? Hertz? Kenwood?

I have the kickers. They are a good speaker for the price. I was looking at the alpines but I wanted the type r and they are $200 a pair. Hertz are good speakers from what I heard. Kenwood I'm not a fan of.
