Re: Show Your System
I had that same amp powering a 12" Type S 3rd generation sub just over a year ago.
I also put a 1 farad stinger cap on it and never had voltage go below 13v even at full tilt according to the display on the cap.
It just fit underneath the passenger seat.
I would have used it for my Sundown SA-8 but i wanted something with a variable subsonic filter because i was going sealed with the 12" to ported with the 8" thats why i upgraded to the Alpine MRX-M55.

From what i have read and learned on the Steve Meade Designs forum a sub sonic filter should be used when using a ported box. A really good explaination and how to calculate it is in this thread on the SMD forum.
The prefabbed box i have mine in has a final tuning of approximately 39 hz, i wanted a lower tuning but didn't want to build my own box.
I have my subsonic filter set at about 25 hz on the amp now, if i was running more power to it i would have it turned up to the 30hz range.

You got the gist of it, its good for keeping the bottom of the sub bottoming out on itself or the soft parts from coming apart, ive got to were I turn off the SS and just be the judge myself If I am taking it to hard on the equipment

Not sure where you heard this, there is no issue underpowering something.
What most people do is clip lower wattage amps and it hurts the sub.
clipping = heat and heat kills

Re: Show Your System
Is this worth posting because my camera mic was able to tolerate the bass so you can't really hear it and it may sound unimpressive. Do I need to do another with my old camera so the bass is more apparent thru mic distortion?
Long vid so just skip around

Question: my alpine bassline subwoofer is rated at 750 watts peak, I want to know how many watts in an amp I should be looking for. Keep in mind I'm probably going to stick with a mono amp to only power the sub, not my speakers as well.

Yeah. I can control it with the head unit so there's no reason to have it loose floating around in the cab.

Oops, didn't realize this pic is before I had it hidden lol but that's basically what it is.
