And that hu lights up the whole car but it does make a pretty decent light show when you use the mix tape function. I went with a jvc kdr730bt and love it. Got it for I bitchin price since the new models had jist came out when I got it.

At night not dimmed.

And dimmed. Matches pretty damn well. Had a buddy think it was the stock unit till I told him it wasn't

I'm beyond excited. It's my first venture into aftermarket audio other than installing my brother's Pioneer touchscreen head unit into his 2011 Subaru WRX STI, along with a bypass to watch movies while driving. With that being said, I stuck to relatively "basic" stuff. I like a good quality sound, but I wouldn't consider myself a fully-fledged audiophile. I was on the phone with a guy named Eli from Crutchfield, and he helped me pick out some good speakers. I went with Infinity's and he said they're amazing (he has them in his f150 powered off the head unit). I bought a mono amp to only run the sub off of, and the speakers will be powered by my head unit, but that may possibly change if I get really into this. Next batch of mods will be wheels and tires.

Very nice man! The infinitys regardless of modle sound amazing! Like I said I put that same hu in my girls car and it made the stock speakers sound great! (For stock) since you're upgrading those too you're going to have a very nice sounding system. Youre putting in a 10" woofer right? What's the specs on the sub and amp? I've always liked 10"s but got a decent deal on my fosgate p2 12". I like it but will be moving on to one of those sundown sa8s I keep hearing about. Maybe lol. If you have any questions I'm usually pretty quick to answer on PMs or here even.

I got an alpine Bass Line 10". It's width is 6 5/16", and the box I bought is 6 5/16" at the most narrow point (it's angled slightly upward). I'm really hoping that I won't run into fitment problems, but their deals were too good on them so I pulled the trigger. My dad encouraged me to, and said if there is fitment issues we can make a rubber ring about 1/4" thick to mount the sub to the box on, and if that doesn't work he said he will cover the difference since I make minimum wage and have 2 jobs just to pay insurance and gas. I just found a JBL amplifier on amazon for $25, originally $180. I'm thinking I should jump on it since there are 5 left in stock. It's 600w peak and it's mono, which is all I need. My dad is asleep so idk what to do, he is kind of overseeing the purchases for this project. It has good reviews though.

It's actually only 300w but still, it's such a steal! Should I? They really bone you on shipping.

Sorry when I said specs I ment like rms watts. Always check rms as that's what you'll be running peak is just this is how much power we threw at it till it exploded lol. Like my sub is rated at 400wats rms at a 2ohm impedance and my amp at 2ohms is rated 500watt rms. You want to over power your sub whenever possible cause you can simple "turn down" the amp. Underpowering is really hard on both the sub and amp.

----------

That amp at 2ohms is rated 300watts rms what is the model sub you got?

----------

Oh and that box should be fine. Since you're just getting into it I wouldn't worry about cubic footage of the box and the displacement of the sub and blah blah blah lol

K for that amp at 4ohm is only 200wats rms. Good deal for the amp? Yes. Good deal for your system? No. Sorry brother.

----------

This is the amp I have. And I absolutely love it. I had one before with a JL audio 10" it sounded great and I have one now with my RF 12" and it sounds great (personally I think I need more power but maybe I just need a better box)

So how many watts am I looking for? The Crutchfield guy never told me that I should over power the subwoofer with a higher wattage amplifier. I'm only familiar with Ohms and impedance, because I have a $1,700 guitar amp. I'm not familiar with subwoofers and amps, lol.

Honestly that amp I posted is perfect. But like you said earlier you're just as broke as I am lol so look for anything that's over 250rms at 4 ohms. I don't really want to say go get this or go get that (even though i just did lol my bad) because everyone has brand preference mine obviously is Alpine. But that's just because that's what I have experience with most. So I'm partially biased.

----------

Also match your wiring (ground and power for the amp) to the output of the amp. Likenif I was to run 8g to my amp instead of the 20mm (I'm too drunk to remember what that is in gauge) I wouldn't be getting nearly the same power out of my amp as I am now.

This is all great to know man, thanks a ton. I'm sure I can find this info somewhere online but it's nice to be able to get answers to a question directly related to my needs. It's been a ton of help and I'll be sure to check back into this thread when I get everything installed and running.
