The speaker type setting has vague descriptions of common speakers, such as standard (with a picture of a round coax), narrow (4x6 image), wide (6x9 image), etc. I would imagine it would attempt to appropriately tailor the output according to speaker type, but it's pretty foolish to imagine that all 6x9's would require the same crossover or equalization points, as would every other setting.
I certainly wouldn't mind the feature if it was an optional setting, but unfortunately you have to select one of their settings. I went with the standard setting, but even though I contacted Kenwood through multiple emails, they gave me a very vague and unconvincing response, and I am not confident that the signal output is true.
