For DVD I like pioneer. I used to love Alpine...I used to drool over the pulse touch. Lol

But for decks and media receivers I'm die hard Excelon. I've had many...never had problems. I love the aesthetics of them. You you get big BANG for your buck

Let's see if anyone remembers this. I started this project a long time ago and only got finished about a week ago.

And here's a video!

Thanks man. Maybe I should have, but I'm not really one to take many pictures.... I just keep working and working and working and get carried away haha.

Did a little bit more EQ tuning and now it's even louder.

That's awesome! Do you have a sketch or anything with dimensions? Don't come across a nice console like that for a manual!

I think I threw away the sketch... but I can measure it for you no prob. Basically I mocked it up with cardboard and did some trial and error with that and then cut the wood accordingly. Once I did the mockup I was in the clear.

I'm a diehard Kenwood Excelon guy myself. Only issue I've ever had is with faceplate connection above 155dB, but 99% of this group will never be interested in becoming that loud, and those of us who are just deal with it. LOL

The unit I have now is my first Kenwood.
So far it's pretty good, but the speaker size setting in the audio menu really bugs me. I would really like to defeat that.

What's the purpose of a speaker size setting on a head unit?

The speaker type setting has vague descriptions of common speakers, such as standard (with a picture of a round coax), narrow (4x6 image), wide (6x9 image), etc. I would imagine it would attempt to appropriately tailor the output according to speaker type, but it's pretty foolish to imagine that all 6x9's would require the same crossover or equalization points, as would every other setting.
I certainly wouldn't mind the feature if it was an optional setting, but unfortunately you have to select one of their settings. I went with the standard setting, but even though I contacted Kenwood through multiple emails, they gave me a very vague and unconvincing response, and I am not confident that the signal output is true.

Any opinions on the Kenwood DDX370? I just picked one up along with a 4G Rockford Fosgate amp kit.

Not for the Ranger, but for an Explorer I'm buying in an hour.
