Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
I just started looking into getting a sub and a whole new speaker set-up... I have a 2001 edge/extended cab. I dont want to take up both fold down seats but i'm okay with taking away one... does anyone have any suggestions or know at least where i should start because its freaking overwhelming thinking about amps and all the wiring and shit!
I dont want 12"s either because i listen to metal so i want more of a tight sound... i listen to rap too but extreme bass is not that important to me
Thanks!
Brett

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
just get one 10" thats all i have it sometimes rattles my back window. but as far as amp and stuff go i really dont know much about that cuz the one i have was given to me and i have no idea what its pushing but a 10" sub will be perfect. my sises bf used to work at audio install at bestbuy and he was sayin the best speakers if your not running an amp to them are alpine

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
a 500watt amp should be perfect, depending on what the sub is rated at. but its safe to say a 500watt would be fine

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
Get an FI x10 subwoofer. Put it in a sealed box that's about .5cuft and mount it where one of the jump seats are mounted. Then get 4 Phoenix Gold rsd6.5cs component door speakers. Then get a Crescendo 1000C4 4 channel amp. THEN, get a 4g wiring kit, run the door speakers on 2 channels and bridge the other 2 channels and have them running to the sub. It'll sound great and won't take up much space.

Get Pioneer! A 10'' Pioneer sub, speakers for the doors and back ones and a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD lol. Just my opinion or maybe because I have all of that but 2 12's and I'm in love haha.

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
I had a 10" diamond sub in a ported box...it was pretty awesome...Think the speaker was rated 400w and the amp was 300 or 350w...It was a good setup until the amp blew a couple years later after it had been moved in and out of 5 or 6 vehicles.

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
tip of the day for you. If you can buy it at best buy its not even close to being high quality.
Check out your smaller car audio shops.. most of them will get you a better deal with higher quality stuff.
For proof I have a MTX TC4001 amp that I bought used from a friend 2yrs ago. the amp is close to 4yrs out been abused the whole time,(we both competed and won spl competitions in our classes.)
Currently its in my gf's car til I can get a cheaper amp for her and then its going in my truck.

Re: Holy shit sound picking out my sound system is overwhelming!
Just remember, LOUDER, is not always BETTER. IMHO, the best sound systems are ones that haev a balanced volume/ eq between the sub and mid/high speakers, at quite and louder volums... I can't stand it when all you hear is subs. (its MUCH better for your ears too)
