Exclamation Help with a sound system

Hello guys, I am picking up my second truck, had a 91 s10 and as you all should know it was a POS. But now I decided to buy a good truck and got a '94 ford ranger on a steal of a deal. Anyways, I was thinking about getting a badass sound system for it, I have a bit of money, thinking like spending upwards of 800 dollars (at the most). I really want to get a (just one) sub that vibrates my eyes out of my face, too many subs i find gets a little more costly and gives you a strange kick if you mess up the wiring. I have heard good things about Alpine subs but I have had bad luck with the Alpine brand so i would prefer to not buy into Alpine unless they are the best I can get. As for an Amp, i would prefer something that could run the majority of my system so i dont have to dick around with buying 2 or 3 amps. I already have a deck so thats not really an issue. The stock speakers are fine, but being a young happy-go-lucky guy i want them to be louder and to pretty much blow the clothes off of all the women who get into my truck. Any advice you would have would be fantastic! Thanks a lot!

Well with a sub that's going to vibrate the eyes out of your face, it's gonna make your mids and highs sound like farts. So I suggest to do it right the first time so you have an all around good system rather than just loud bass.

You can get 2 pairs of coaxials for like $100, you can find a sub that'll take about 500-1krms for around 100-200 bucks. I recommend an AQ sdc2.5 12", that is if you have an ext cab. If you have a reg. cab then it's gonna be much harder to get a loud system with the amount of room you have. Then you can get an AP15001D for an amplifier which is another $150 or so. You just have to get your wiring right, and if you do, then you could add another sub later on if you'd like and still have a stable load on your amp drawing the max amount of power without throwing it into protect.

Keep in mind that research on Car Audio forums will score you big deals as well as people's reviews on their systems.

ive got a 1000w alpine amp on 3 kicker cvr 12s and it pounds the hell out of my truck. but the kicker cvr subs are not extremely expensive and the sound good in a ported wood box. and the amp was around 450 bucks. so if you built your box the alpine amp and two 12s would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 bucks.

That doesn't mean that it's the only system that pounds the hell out of your truck.

OP doesn't want multiple subs. If you read the post instead of suggesting the exact same system you have, you would know this. He also said that he wants to stay away from Alpine.

Thanks a lot. I do have the extended cab. Its the 4 cylinder too so its a little fella. But is there like huge rattling issues in Fords? Sadly this is my first ford so i havent really been able to test it out yet. I just recall that my S10 always shook to shit when i played music with little bass on just the stock speakers. So it gives rise to a little concern in this truck. Also, I can do Alpine, just not a personal preference. Thanks again for the advice guys.

i didnt say that it was the only system that sounded good in a ranger, i just said that it pounds the hell out of my truck. i just told him what i have found and what sounds good for the buck but if he wanted to go big reall cheap jbl makes a sub thats 100 bucks that pounds like hell. alpine jl and dimond sounds damn good. i just made a sugestion for his budget. and i didnt say all of what i have cuz i have over 4 grand in my system.

Brad you did good suggesting an Audioque sub but you told him about the wrong one. If you go with an Audioque, get the Audioque HDC3 12". It can handle more than the SDC can. If you want non mainstream brand audio then go with an Audioque HDC3 12" sub, MB Quart DSC 2000.1d, or Sundown saz 1500d amp. If you buy the AQ sub and the MB Quart amp you'll be spending about $500. Add another $100 or so for wiring, plus about another $40 for wood+other materials, then door speakers(Phoenix Gold 6.5" components) and a 4 channel amp(Rockford Fosgate P400.4) and you'll be at about your budget of $800.

I only recommended the SDC because he has stock speakers. And the less money he spends on subs, the more he can spend on speakers.

Is there nothing else you can think of to spend $800 on?
