i have a 96 ranger with the premium sound and i wanna bypass the factory amp cuz i put a jvc head unit in. right now i have it running through the factory amp too so the sound quality gets crappy at low volumes does anyone know where the factory amp is? im sure its in the extended cab somewhere but i dont wanna tear the whole truck apart if i dont have to. thanks, JON

The factory amp is on the passenger rear behind the plasic panal that covers the whole side i just found it on my 96 ranger

yea its by the speaker i havnt bypassed it yet dont have a clue how yet.

you got any tips for taking that panel off? i always break those stupid push plug things when i take them out

Not really i always break them i have to get othe ones for my truck

You will have to take the metal panal off the back off and its easier if you take the seatbelt off the panal too

ok yeah do you know where you can buy them plastic plugs or how much they are im sure im gonna break them and there is a metal plate or something back there you say?

I dont know where you can buy them at sorry the amp will be behind the metal you will see the nuts that hold it on.

If you've got a pic of the panel clips (or whatever the heck they're called) I might have some.

so i havent gotten the panel off yet but i found a wire harness that claims you just pull the two plugs from the amp and plug into each end of the harness i purchased it but like i said have not gotten the panel off yet not much free time. the harness is from metra item number 70-5513 you can get it on ebay for like 7 bucks

i just spiced my wires together cheaper for me.

where did you find a wire diagram to know which wires go with which? cuz idk that harness didnt work there werent any instructions and the plugs were wrong for the amp i also broke every clip on that panel
