Satellite Radio opinion
I was wondering if anyone has XM or Sirius satellite radio? I'm thinking about getting a radio and subscription since I'm constantly driving, and hate searching for stations. Pro's n Con's? How much per month? I know you can get car kits to hook them up, and I imagine I will get two so I can listen in the semi and in my Ranger. Thanks guys

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
LOVE MY XM!!!!!!!!!!!
Your rate all depends. We got 3 months free when it came time to subscribe. We said we couldnt afford the 12 dollars a month so they offered less.
What I have Delphi Xpress RC can pause and rewind the radio. Also store favorite artist and songs. It will beep and let you know when those songs or artist are on. I also picked up a mount from crutchfield. It attaches using the bolts that hold on the ac/heat deal
If you pick higher frequency you wont lose the signal as easy as you do on the lower frequencies. I have mine on 107.3 and can travel without changing it.

I'm really liking that mount, thats pretty nifty. I'm partial to Sirius since our Dish Network programming offers it on the tv, so thats all I've known. I'm sure they are both pretty close to the same.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
I've had Sirius for about 3 years now, and we just added it to my wifes new car. I think the music is good but i thought the sports selections would be better.
When adding my wifes car to my subscription i tried to negotiate a better price or at least get the best of xm added (i want the nhl network). But the person i talked to wasn't dealing. i even threatened to cancel.
I have both a home and car base. i find myself using it at home more.

XM and Sirius are basically the same
XM has their special packages with different sports deals
Sirius has their own special extra channels

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
Well, I got a Sirius Stratus 6 for myself. I installed it in my Ranger with the provided car kit. I love it! Really love the classic rock/heavy metal stations. Now I just need to get a kit so I can put it into the semi. Thats the only down side i've seen to this so far, I need another antenna and another docking base w/screws. But I'm hoping ebay will provide.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
Well Sirius is built into my truck from factory I barely use it and XM in Canada has not merged together with Sirius like they did in the states. I perfer Sirus myself I have a portable one and I use it when I go up to Northern BC to work and I still get a signal I know people who have used XM in that area loose a signal. I say grab a program pamflit from a store that sells both read over their programs and see what both have to offer.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
Got Sirius with the truck, tbh i only listen to stern and that comedy channel, rarely.
Channel 36(bpm?) and 38(area?) got old in a hurry.
The only reason i'd keep it is if they lower the price, by a lot, i don't spend enough time in the truck to justify 4 channels @15$/m

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
true it is kinda pricey if you don't spend alot of time in the truck or listen to alot of the channels but its still your choice... IMHO i love xm in my truck and listen to it every chance i get

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
Got 6 months free Sirius with my Ranger purchase. About a month after the subscription expired, I got another deal for 6 months at $5/month. Regular price is CAD$15/month....which is IMO too pricey.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
When all you hear is the drone of the tires, the rumble of the engine, and the rattle of the road, $13/mo US is worth it in my opinion. Sometimes I like talk, sometimes country, sometimes hard rock, classic rock, other stuff... I just need to get it into the semi is all. I haven't been using my regular tractor this week, so I haven't really bothered to monkey with it too much outside of my trips to and from work. If they jack the price too much I'll drop it, but for now, I'm pretty happy. Thank you all for your opinion! I appreciate it

Yup
I always said, if they'd lower it to 5$ and limit channels to a set amount (i personally don't need that much), i'd definately continue being a loyal customer.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
Had Sirius for about a year in my old car with one of those dash-mount players, and LOVED it. Now I have it factory-installed (6 months free) in my new ranger, and I gotta say, it's definitely not the same. The factory stereo in the Ranger really isn't meant for something as high-tech as sat radio. It's painful to scroll through stations without being able to punch in numbers, and my fav feature from the dash-mount units isn't available in the factory stereo: programming it to tell you when your fav artists are playing and automatically tuning to that station.
Thinking about swapping out my factory stereo as soon as I get money ahead. Want something that works better with Sirius.
BUT - long story short, sat radio is worth it and Sirius is great.

Re: Satellite Radio opinion
i had sirius in the rental car I took to houston...It was better than regular radio, but I wouldnt pay for it...I heard the same song at least 4 times just on the way down there (7hr drive) I have pandora on my phone and I can plug that into aux...plus the pandora on my phone isnt limited to 40hrs a week or whatever the website limits. It is way more controlable. sirius had over 100 channels and there were less than 5 I liked.
