I was looking to upgrade my 2010 XL (basic AM/FM radio) and had kind of gravitated to the same Pioneer that you picked. I had a couple of questions on installing the thing. Although I've never worked on a car newer than about 1970 (my truck seems like the flippin' space shuttle compared to cars I used to work on!), I think
I understand the basic radio removal, the wiring harness, and trim adapter that you get from Crutchfield.
What I'm a little sketchy on is whether or not I have to rip into the dash beyond removing the factory radio? The Pioneer instructions I downloaded from Crutchfield indicate some sort of metal strap hangar that attaches to the rear of the unit.
If I do have to pull apart the dash, can you give me an indication of what is involved and any specialized tools that you used? Any information would be much appreciated.
