Default Correct Voltage?

So my stock battery is just the 540 CCA battery and my second battery is a 1000 CCA Everstart Maxx battery. What should my voltage be? It's only at 13.8 volts at idle. Should it be higher than that? I kinda figured it would be more around 14+ volts.

that is in the normal range. 13.5 to 14.5 is normal at high idle.

The thing is though it never really gets above 14v when I'm going down the road or if I rev it.

Pats got the idea. 13.5 at normal idle and 14.4 at high idle

Yup. The second battery acts as a capacitor (storage). It's not supposed to double up the power.
