Default Couple of questions so i do this right

ok so i want to take the stock radio out of my truck (00 ext cab w a/c) and want to put in the JVC my wife gave me for valentines day
I bought the American International kit and ebay wiring harness and i ran all the wires color coded like i have on the radio
this leaves a black wire with a white stripe on it unused and a pair of orange wires unused ( one of which has a black stripe on it) I am assuming that these are for speakers that im not connecting am i correct? Should these be coupled with any other wires?

Secondly I was searching the posts here and i noticed that on one radio like this they put the part that has the little shelf on the mounting kit towards the top? is there an issue that I need to run the radio that way?
also there are two screw tabs on the radio mounting kit.. the old radio pops into place and is held by some kind of clip ( ford radio removal tool u shaped thingy gets it out) should these be removed from the install kit and do i need any of the plastic pieces to get this thing to remain in the dash?

You did it just like you should have The 2 orange wires are for illumination and dimmer and the black wire is amp ground. YOu don't need them. Shelf on top/shelf on bottom, which ever way you prefer, it doesn't matter. There should be several small metal rectangle and triangle tabs on the head unit, once you slide it into the mounting bracket, bend them upwards to hold the head unit in place. Hope this helps.

As far as the second part; not sure what the tabs issue is, but you should be able to mount the radio on top of the shelf thing. As long as the wiring harnesses all reach you should be good to go. I've only installed single DIN radios in single DIN holes never a single DIN in a double DIN hole. So I'm guessing but, I put a double DIN stereo in a double DIN hole last year. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to put the shelf on bottom.

I would put the shelf or pocket on the top of the radio. Here is why: If you put the radio on the bottom you can remove that guide on the back of the factory radio that locks onto and slides down that rail in the center and attach it to your new radio for extra support.
