Default Possible to run better system on stock electronics?

I'm looking to upgrade the sound system on my 90' ranger xlt single cab. I was hoping I could maybe do a simple speaker/sub upgrade using just the stock electrics, no aftermarket amp or anything special. Is this possible? I'm not looking for a HUGE sound upgrade, just a little crisper mid and hi's and the noticable existance of SOME bass in the music woud be nice.

I'm pretty cheap so I'll probably buy used speakers off of craigslist if anything.

Ok, better question. I have never really dealt with speaker systems, but I did a little looking around at walmart ( >_> ) and found this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sony-Xplod...V4642A/4694343

It looks like a nice, cheap system. I know being cheap it probably doesn't have really amazing quality, but atleast I'll be able to hear something, unlike with my stock sound system.

It looks like it comes with only 2 speakers, but each speaker seems to have a sub, midrange, and two tweeters built in to each, is this right?

And is it possible to keep my stock audio setup, and just wire these speakers up where the old door mounted ones were? Or would i need to buy an amp to go with those speakers as well?

I'll probably also be buying a sub sometime in the future, and from looking at the diagram on the sticky above, it seems i need a seperate amp for the sub as well. I'll probably go with a single 8 or 10 inch. Not looking to blast my music, rather, I would like to hear my music while driving with the windows down, while still having some volume left to spare. Any suggestions for a decent, but cheap sub and amp? I'll probably be able to build my own sub box pretty easily, so i dont need any enclosures.

I plugged your truck into Crutchfield's site and it says 6 1/2" rounds for the front doors. I use Crutchfield for just about all my audio needs. Great customer service, free stuff when you order, and fast shipping.

I guess I could stick this pair in my doors

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20607DS...DS600.html?c=3

And I probably will buy some subs eventually....But does my stock system provide enough watt's for these speakers? I really don't want to have to buy an amp and do all the wiring, etc etc

EDIT, i also checked the crutchfeild outfit my car thing, and it says my rear speakers are 5"........I wonder if i can just find a pair of 5" subs, if they even come that small....

Or maybe this whole setup

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GTX1...1S.html?tp=106

only this is, how would i wire the tweeters? And the external crossovers.....what do they do? o_O
