I actually have a 12 and yep it can be very overpowering at times.
The one thing that I wish that I could have which isn't compatible with my amp is a remote control so that I can change the gain easily. Oh well.

every amp is compatible with a bass remote. just some have to be ran through the RCA's.

Re: My Subwoofer addition
This is exactly what I want to do... Previous owner has a 2.5' x 1' x 1' box in the back, just sliding around and it's cumbersome for the sound tradeoff.
I'm definitely gonna do what you did! ... except I might mount my amp under the seat and put a grille over the subwoofer, since that's backpack zone.

I wanted to put the amp under the seat, but it didn't fit and I figured that it would heat up much faster. The grill wasn't put on because it was just adding more money and I was already over budget haha.

Dude, any chance we could get dimensions / schematics for your box? I think I'm gonna have to build a new box as the one I have might not work for me to just cut it in half :-\

I'll do my best to get some pictures up with a tape measure tomorrow. I can't take it out of my car because the wires are hidden underneath it so i'll give you the measurements that I can get without that.

Re: My Subwoofer addition
Yeah man, don't mess up your setup just to help me. I can probably figure it out by measuring my truck. No worries mate
