Default /Speakers, maybe sub and amp?

I'm looking to get new speakers for my 01 ranger xlt reg cab. I'm debating on putting a small 10' sub and an amp. What's the best deal i can get for 4 speakers that will actually sound good? thanks

Do you want door speakers that are pretty much just plug and play? Or do you want door speakers that are connected to a seperate amp?

Infinity offers a basslink for people with reg. cabs. Very easy to install and looks good and clean as well.

I don't know much about systems but if i got 4 new speakers (2 door and 2 other ones) i would probably need an amp, i think.

You don't want to run all aftermarket door speakers off the headunit amp though.

Well if I were to run the door speakers I have off my headunits amp they'd sound like shit. Hence why I bought a different amp just for them.

Mine are component speakers. Most times you amp compents. Normally you can get away running coaxials off the headunit like what you're doing.

Where do you plan on putting the two 6x9's?

It all depends on the speakers and the head unit. I've had fancy aftermarket head units with 15W per channel, as they figured the end user would run an amp. I've had head units with 50W per channel as well. There are speakers that are designed to be run off head unit power (more sensitive) and there are speakers that really sound best with more amplification.

Infinity makes a 5x7/6x8 that will fit as a drop-in replacement. I just picked up 2 pairs for $60 each. I've been an infinity fan for years - they really sound great for all types of music. I think the model number is 6822CF; it's last years model so you can find them cheap - this year's is 6832CF and ranges from $70-$100. I've got a small amp that pushes 35W per channel RMS (50max) and it's enough for these speakers, though they can handle more if you're into blowing out your ear drums.

I had infinity 6x9s mounted in the trunk of my Civic, which acted like a box. There was enough bass for me for everything except my house music. You could try to insulate the speaker cavities to turn them into mini boxes and get some good bass out of the 6x8s. Otherwise I'd go with a separate high power amp and a quality 8" sub.
