Re: What DOUBLE DIN fits best / Works best in 2006
Hello,
Crutchfield, Sonic Electronics (my choice), have instructions for installing said radio in your vehicle, and IF there will be problems. Both usually have free install kits.
Most Rangers take a Double Din Unit with a slight modification, you need to open up the lower and upper lips of the Radio Bezel, not a big problem, just a little time consuming. There is a How-To out there in Ranger Land that can help you out !
As to which one is best, I would think first you need to listen to some sounds at a local Store that has a display for listening to your favorite radio... once you have determined the one you like to listen to, then decide if it has the functions you want NAD do the functions work... i.e. "Apps" a lot of radios say they have a link for your phone but they don't always work, now you can think on how it will fit.
Some of these stores, will push what they have in stuck or the slower moving radios, so know what you want before buying and don't let them talk you out of your ideas.
Once you decide what you want for a radio post it up on here and let the crew tear it apart, in a good way !
With the instructions from one of the above Stores, you should be able to add the connectors necessary to adapt the radio you chose, we aren't building a Piano.
Also, along with making sure the radio has the sound and features you want, make sure it will adapt to where you are going in the future, amps, bass units, better speakers than OEM, make sure your radio is moving on the right path.
Good Luck on your choice, I've been looking for a while now myself, I find one I like, price is either too high or the comments/reviews are not good on the features, i.e. APPS won't work !
