Default Door speakers wired to front under hood harness

I have a 90 ranger strip down model. The 2 door speakers which is the only speakers, are wired threw the fender to under the hood. It is connected at the wiring harness near the back of the headlights. Is this factory setup? Seems odd, right speaker works fine but left speaking you barely hear the built in tweeter. I dont see any factory protective boot between the door and doors threshold.

Thats very odd but he best thing to do is contact a local audio shop. Ask them if they carry DEI products (alarms & Remote starts)... What you want is to see if they or any of their installers have a pair of the rubber boots that come with a 524N or 524T.. I cant recall which one for sure that comes with it. but installers keep these all the time for may things including what i am going to describe.

EDIT: Apparently it comes in the N

Now you can drill a hole in the kick panel.. you want to be as high up as you can without getting the drill mixed up in any wiring and or plastic panel damage. I suggest hitting up [God forbid] Harbor freight and spend $19 and picking up their 3 pack UNI-bit or step drill bits for this purpose. Dont force the bit, let it do its job, they'll last longer this way.

now with the door open find a corresponding spot in the door about an inch lower from the kick panel hole. This will minimize but NOT avoid any water that may collect in the door (doubtful it will happen but) from traveling downward and getting into the interior of the car as the water doesnt travel upwards as easily.

Take your door speaker wires, carefully run them through the hole allocated for the rubber piece. then as you pull the wire through slide the rubber grommet tube into place and push it in while giving it a little bit of a twist so it settles into the right groove on the boot. feed the wires into the kick panel hole, do the same on this side for the boot.

NOW, you have your wires running the way they should instead of some weird catastrophe under the hood.

Its clean, it works great and you should be able to get up to 6 18ga wires through those boots should you ever wan to add door locks to that truck too.

If you lose track of what I described, let me know.
