Default What Brand Tweeters, and where to install at ?

Looking to install tweeters, just dont know what brand to get or where to install them...When I had my Tacoma I got Bose Tweeters from a LTZ Silverado and installed them in the interior mirror cap on the door panel which was separate from the door panel so If I messed up or didnt like it I could just buy another part. Was thinking about doing it to my ranger but the mirror interior cover is made onto the the door panel. I would prefer to install them onto or into something that I can replace cheaply if I dont like it or mess up on it.

There is no small part in the ranger doors to do that. Either hole in the door panel or hole in the pillar

If you don want holes anywhere and you have time i suggest making your own fiberglass pods for them then you can put them anywhere you want and you can always change tweets or position without damaging anything

Might I suggest looking into a kickpanel whether you form your own or purchase them from the likes of Qlogic (Q-forms).

If your not much of an audio enthusiast or care about sound Q, my comment should be ignored. But time alignments play an integral part of overall sound quality and even an expensive pair of tweeters can sound like shit, pardon my lack of $10 words.

Aiming them at the back of your rear view mirror will bring the imaging center, and raise the sounds stage level between the dash and the mirror in the listening position of your ears. The higher the frequency the more directional they become. The farther the tweeter is the faster you will hear it (in time alignment of a vehicular sense).

if we look at IP's in the history of trucks across all makes, there is a reson most went to door locations as far forward in the door as possible along with mounts that pivot the speakers upward and forward some.

Take in consideration and not for the sake of aesthetics.. old S10's:
- 4x6 plate in the dash
- 4x10 in rear B-pillars of std cabs and 6x9 in rear locations.

On top of shitty presentation and lack of quality for a 4x6 without making a plate for a separate 3 1/2" or 4" and a tweeter left little in sound Quality. The drivers side is only 25" away from the head and the passenger side is nearly 46" away. (Numbers i am using are not 100% accurate and only for reference)

Moving a speaker down to the door panel lower /forward locations now brings the drivers side spkr down to a closer match of 43" but now the passenger side jumps a bit to 50" from 46" because I cant really go much farther right than the interior of the vehicle.

Now here is where it gets weird. If I move the passenger side forward to a kick panel area, I am still only 50"-54" away. but now if I move my drivers side forward to the kick panel I can gain another 7"-10" in distance and now my speakers arent perfect at 51.5" (dr. side aprox) and 50"-54" (pass side aprox) but its a heck of a lot closer than 25" and 46" away from one another considering as the driver, I am not sitting in the center of the vehicle.

as far as best options, Brands mentioned should ONLY be taken into consideration for budget, quality of materials, and reference of sound. Not one person can truly boast what speaker is best as everyone hears something different...

Also, keep in mind my opinion although factual is just that mostly, an opinion. Do what you think you will like but if you purchase just a set of tweeters. give your self 6 ft of test lead wire, and move them around with some two-sided tape and play some music you know very well and listen. I'd start with a flat curve for more realistic sound Q approach and then fine tune back and forth between a particular location once you find one you like. that way you set your own benchmark without making it sound like someone is throwing dishes around in your truck.

Also keep in mind the cab of a Ford Ranger or any mini-mid size truck is very squared off, your going to get a lot of reflection and square waves with lower frequencies. I hope I helped some :\
