Default No SOUND from Speakers - HELP

I've got a 1993 XLT that had the premium sound installed. I went to change the radio and have NO sound whatsoever. Hooking the wires on the back of the radio to the speaker gets sound, but hooking the wires to the harness doesn't work.. We, as stupid as it sounds, cut the premium adaptor off thinking it would be easier to connect. However, no matter what combination is used, cannot get sound out of the speakers at all. I don't know what to do other than run new speaker wires from the radio to the speakers. Only problem is, I don't know how to run speaker wires through the door..

HELP!!! any suggestions..

"premium" sound usually means you have a factory amp. You need to turn the amp on in order for it to work.

THat would be the thin blue wire for the remote,.. However, I don't know where it runs too. THere is no amp that I see in the truck.. What would I connect that blue wire to?

Well I traced the wires and the only wires I can find are for an amp that is no longer there. Am I missing the amp? Where would it be at? If I can't fix this, how do I run wires to the truck doors?

okay, here's what you do. take any pair of speaker wire, grab a battery and see if they pop, if they do then your install or deck is bad. If they don't, take your wiring harness that plugs into the factory radio harness plug, twist the blue(blue/white) to the yellow wire, then try again. It should work then.

Or if you really are missing the amp, a service manual should have the wiring diagram for you to grab the speaker wires at the output connector for the amp and run them up to the radio.

Since the radio was working before you tried a new one I'd say it has something to do with your install.

Well, I've got nothing.. The deck works because I connected it directly to speakers using spare wire and they worked great. I have attempted every combination of speaker wires and it won't work. I tried the blue(blue/white) to the yellow wire and nothing.. I found a pile of wires that were under the carpet behind the driver's seat in the extended cab but they were all connected to nothing. Except the ground which was screwed to the truck. I guess all I am left with now is to rerun speaker wires throughout the truck, which is going to blow. I haven't the slightest idea of how to run the wire from the door to the cab... UGGGGHHH...

I don't do much car audio but I do electronics.. If you found wires going to a missing amp there should be another set of wires going from the missing amp. I assume one side would be RCA and one would be a bunch of speaker wires, but if both are speaker wires you'd just have to connect the wires to get continuity between the deck and speakers.

I'd start with a continuity check to see if the existing wires are actually connecting the speakers with the deck. From your previous experiments I assume that will be a no. It sounds like the next step is to follow either end of the wires in until you find the break. That should either be an amp that isn't getting the turn on signal, is fused out, or is missing.

Barring all that wire tracing, you shouldn't actually have to go all the way through the door to the speaker. Just find the speaker wires after they enter the truck by the door hinges and solder your new wires to them there. (or keep tracing at that point)

You should also figure out where the wires by the missing amp are going to, if they head out to the speakers, you'll just have to run wires to that

btw.. do yourself a favor and solder everything.. otherwise you'll end up with a mystery crackle in a year

Did the radio work BEFORE you tried to replace it with a different one? I'm betting it did, that means that there is something work with YOUR install. Do yourself a favor and take it to a professional before you jack it up anymore.
