What I did was cut the stock radio connector that connected the stock speakers and talked to STL about the radio wiring to make sure I hooked up the wires right. STL has a radio wiring diagram for all Ranger years so look him up. After that it's all easy from then on out. After your done and before putting everything back together, turn your radio on and check to make sure wires are good and sound is better . And your done! Hope this helps

helped a ton!!!! thanks man!! i got the door panels off last week. passenger side was a piece of cake. now the driver's side the T-20 bolt was striped. i used a allen wrench to get them off but i couldn't on the the driver side. it was horrible. the owner before me really screwed it up. threads were striped and the bolt pattern itself was striped. but my dad was tools so i got it off and put a flat head in its spot to replace it. but speakers i havnt got yet. still deciding on 4 rockford fosgate for $130.00 or 2 front door Pioneer's for $79.00

Re: blew speaker now time for new ones
Do it right. Buy a nice 4 channel amp and get for component speakers. Hook them to the amp and run about 50-75w to each one. Mount your tweeters for all the highs, then enjoy your bass and loud music.

There's ALWAYS a need for a sub. A system with no sub will never compare to a system with a sub.

i know i know. my buddy wants to give me a 10 inch kicker. and i can get a amp for a decent price also. but i am a single cab and with school and all i need the room for my school supplies. i was going to get a tonneau cover to make things easier but they cost a lot and i don't want to dump a lot into my sound either. just some simple speakers that put out with good bass. the pioneers has built in tweeters and the rockford fosgate don't.

Re: blew speaker now time for new ones
Do it in stages. Right now, you have shitty door speakers. Do like I said and get the component speakers with an amp. Run those. You'll love them. Loud and have more bass than ones that you just hook up to the stock wiring. Then when you get some extra cash buy a slim mount 10" sub. It'll mount under your seat probably or behind it in a pretty small box. Have the sub behind the seat and the amp under the seat. It would sound great and hit hard in your small cab.

Don't waste your money on Sony. Sony is good for TV's and home theater. In the car audio world, their shit SUCKS. Buy something like a Kicker 750.1 for the L5(I have that amp for sale fyi). And not to be a smartass but stock door speakers shake the mirrors. You need something that shakes the windows.

Re: blew speaker now time for new ones
Sony has gone downhill in the past few years IMO. I refuse to buy there stuff anymore.
The system in my Truck is all Alpine and I love it. Alpine IDA-X303 headunit, type S's in the front doors and type R's in the back with the lil power pack thing Amping them. Gonna get a Kenwood little sub soon because Alpine doesnt make a small enough sub for my truck while Kenwood does.

Re: blew speaker now time for new ones
Alpine, Pioneer and all the other mainstream brands are overrated in my opinion. There's sooo much better out there for about the same price. When I say "so much better" I mean amps that actually do more than rated power. Subs that can take more than what they're rated for no problem. Things like that. Do some research on an audio forum like www.caraudio.com that site is very helpful and you'll find good deals on things like door speakers and subs in the classifieds section if you look hard enough.

yeah stock speakers on a 1990 ranger dont shake anything..heck the rear ones didnt even work cause the back section of the head unit was fried but i like my sony head unit cause its got every thing i need in it and its easy to use but only downside is that it automatically puts the extreme lows to a sub output but i dont have a subwoofer.. so gonna change that
i got this exact one http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT64...I.html?tp=5684
oh and if your going to spend 150+ on a head unit do it from crutchfield cause they give you everything you need to put it in

Yea people used to say to stay away from crutchfield but now that I've educated myself more about audio and shit I've learned that considering what crutchfield gives you, they're the better deal in most cases.
