one speaker really low

I am having a problem with one of my speakers. My driverside rear speaker in my 93 XLT is really low in volume. It sounds fine when I can hear it, but it is A LOT lower than the others. What could cause that? Head unit maybe?

Either the wires are grounded out, or the speaker is on its way out. Take the door panel off and make sure the wires aren't touching each other or any other metal.

OK.. It's behind me in my extended cab so I will take a look at the wires there.. I just replaced my speakers hoping it would solve it and when I changed it, I noticed that the wires were all taped up.. Maybe I will have to run some new wires.. Ugg, I hope not..
