what are the input/output options in the stock 6 disc changer from 2002?
..I know someone has the stock 6 disc changer from a 2002 ranger sitting in their basement right now. I'll owe ya a beer if you check for me..
Are there any line in or line out options on the back of the 6 disc changer? If I can line in from my MP3 player through RCA inputs in the back, and line out to my sub and high pass the speakers I'll skip buying an aftermarket head unit. ..that way I can spend my kick-around money on important things like brush guards and fuzzy dice.

Its not going to have any. But if you absolutely like your factory deck axxess(metra) prolly makes an aux in adapter and you can get a line out converter for your subs. Line out converters usually run close to $20.

Thanks for the tip
..its not really about liking the original so much, its just that if I can get a decent sound from it, I'd rather spend my kick around money on other toys.

you can use a line output converter to get signal to the amp.. the downside to that is that you're running full range to you door speakers as well. essentially... you'll keep blowing them. my recommendation to you it spend $100-150 on a decent radio with some pre-outs and an aux in plug. that'll save you moneys in the long run.
either way you go, you'll wind up spending the same amount of money.

Not to jack his thread, but you're a lil confused i think. Every deck out there sends full range to all speakers unless crossed over. A line out converter changes from high lvl output(ie speaker wire connection) to a low lvl(rca) output.

Re: what are the input/output options in the stock 6 disc changer from 2002?
I can easily make high pass filters for the door speakers and the sub amp has an adjustable low pass built in. I might decide to complicate things more at some point by adding tweeters, but the main deficit in the truck seems to be on the low end, so just adding a sub and upgrading the quad speakers should make a huge improvement in sound quality.

Not that I do this for a living or anything. But yes, Im aware of what a line output converter does. Yet when you utilize one, instead of having a bass adjustment for a woofer you're stuck using the bass adj for all 4 door speakers. Hence my initial post. Perhaps I worded it funny.
