Re: Radio Help plz
Nope, nothing modern will be plug & play for your old truck.
A newer Ranger radio (with AUX) has no fitment issues, only wiring differences. Aftermarket radios will need wiring plus a plastic shroud to fit it into the Ranger's double-DIN dashboard bezel.
You will certainly need to fabricate a DIY adapter wire harness: to plug into ANY new radio's rear connector and also it plugs into your dashboard's existing two (ie, both gray & black) connectors. All sorts of adapter connectors with short pigtail wires (bare) are readily available (online or at local autoparts stores), but you will need to connect all the pigtail wires together, in the correct sequence for THAT particular radio. Ready for homework? Crutchfield.com has a good reputation to help.
Every radio is different (connector shape, pinouts, features, mounting brackets, size). Every vehicle is different, even Rangers from 1 year to the next. Yeah, sorry. So you'd better WANT it, cuz you'll have to work at it, or pay someone to do it. But it's not difficult, maybe a bit tedious.
