2003 "Premium" audio system specs?

Howdy!

I have a 2003 with the "Premium" Mach MP3 single disc head unit. I have swapped that out for a JVC head, but I'm wondering if the speakers that come stock with this system are good speakers, or if the sound would be much improved with 2 new pair of $70+/- Infinity or Kenwood speakers? It sounds good to me, but would new speakers make a big difference? I know that they are easy to swap out.

Basically, what speakers are in my truck, and are they worth keeping? Also, are they 5x7's?

Only premium sound system would be the tremor system or the upgraded pioneer sound system

I believe you have just the regular stock speakers the head unit is the only real upgrade.

ok, so how do those stack up against a set of Infinity's or Kenwood's? Would the sound be much improved with $150 - $200 worth of speakers?

I dont know much about kenwood or infinity.

My alpine type R's were a big improvement over stock

I replaced all my speakers with Pioneer TS-A6882R speakers. BIG improvement.

cool, thanks for the tip. i went ahead and put a pair of 6872's in the doors today. they were 65 bucks at best buy (75 on amazon). i want to put another pair in the access doors, or maybe a pair of 6882's for a few extra bucks.

fyi to anyone thinking about speakers...the stock ones are 2-way paper cones rated at 25 rms.

wow, scratch that...i just got a pair of 6882's on amazon for $57 plus shipping! they were $95 yesterday. sweet!

if anyone is looking for speakers, grab 'em before they're gone!

hey I bought the speaker and amp and box from a buddy but no wires, just the hookups that are on the box and the amp. I plan on buying a deck but can't find out how to hook that thing up to a regular deck with rcas and what not... how'd you switch the head unit out?
