Default Question on box

I have a Sundown SA-8V1 and have no skills or tools to build a box. Went shopping locally to price out getting one built and that can be done between 350-500$. Figure that was a little much. I talked to person who sold me sub and I got told to use it in .75 cu ft tuned to 35hz with a 3'' port 27'' long.

I found this box on Ebay, would this work, I think it might but would like assurance so I don't have to buy 2 boxes b/c I screwed up on buying another. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what music you listen to most but you might be ok with a sealed box. Would simplify and take less space.

Well i listen to a lot of bass and rap type music, country, and some rock. Size of box doesn't bother me. I was told by owner of sub not to use a sealed, but to use ported and that's what I would like. Just want to make sure that that box would work so I don't have to make the mistake to waste more money on another one. As suppose to spending $350-500$ on a box to be built. IF it matters, Ill be throwing 400 watts rms at 2 ohms.

Is the sub a 2 ohm or dvc 4 ohm ? What sub or mono amp do are you using ? You need to be sure what size and porting Sundown recommends for that sub's parameters and specifications. It will work fine in the correct size sealed box. Which type box you use depends on what music you listen to most. If you listen to country-rock-classic rock-metal most, you will not like ported. If you listen to rap and hiphop most, you will love ported.

Specs for the sub say .5 to .75cuft box at 35hz so I don't see why the box you linked to wouldn't work just fine.

You need a ported sub enclosure.

Box looks good i Just need to cut out the opening a little bit bigger. But need to pay some bills and will order the box. I just don't have the tools or the skills to make something decent. Just wish it wasn't expensive to get a box built professionally.

Thank you everyone for input.

Sounds like its time to start investing in some tools The skills come with practice.

Need to cut what hole? The hole for the sub to mount? Or the port. You can't just cut a port hole bigger. A hole in a box isn't a port. It's a channel for air to flow through.

I know not to cut the port out. This isn't my first system. I am talking about where sub mounts, that is all.
