2003 Ranger with No Radio - OPTIONS?
Hey Guys,
Just picked up a 2003 Ranger and there is a huge hole in the dash where the radio was - any suggestions on what to put there in terms of after market radios?
Looking for some recommendations.

Don't put in a double DIN without already having an alarm system.
There's tons of screen Nazis here that will swear by the double DIN screens. A good single DIN is all you need and you can remove the face for security
I would check out Kenwood Excelon or JVC Arsenal if you want the most bang for the buck. Pioneer is OK, just stay out of Walmart!

Not with the mounting kit. You'll just have a small cubby and the stereo.

Honestly though. I don't have an alarm in my car but I've got a double din and never had any problems. Been in there for 2 years. All depends on where you live and frequently drive.

Nope. Dash kit
I don't see the point in double DIN's. Too high of coat for the same features. And, I don't know about you...but, when I'm in my truck...it's to drive, not watch movies

You could do something like this if you wanted too. I still would just go single imo

If you're going with a single DIN go with the Pioneer DEH-80PRS. Awesome deck.

Get yourself a decent name-brand single DIN and the mounting kit. Yeah i don't have a screen (thats what my new mazda 3 is for) but the $300 pioneer i bought two years ago has done everything i needed and will for the most part work with all the future audio additions i have planned. I like having the little cubby area to store CD's and the radios remote

Re: 2003 Ranger with No Radio - OPTIONS?
It really depends on how much you want to spend & the features you want.
If you want a backup camera, definitely go double din. Those extra few inches makes a world of difference.
Not much modding needed to go double din & unless your windows are clear & showoff your system, you should be ok on the crime side... but you never know.
I love my pioneer double dins, 7" widescreen, more options & features than I need right now, but there's always room to expand later.

Single din isn't neccessarily less cost. The Pioneer PRS is top of the line and more than most DD's, unless you want DVD & cam. There are some nice single D media recievers. Does anyone still use CD's ?

I only use them to burn test tones to for setting up systems. I also use USB for the same tho.
