I pulled my after market Stereo on my 97 ranger XLT 4.0 V6 Engine because my speakers keep cutting out when ever i hit a bump in the road when i'm driving and i had a friend hold the Stereo to see if the speakers cut out while i was driving and the speakers did not cut out at all then when we got back from a ride we checked the stereo wiring and didn't see any wires wore through at all so we put the stereo back in and took the truck for a ride again and as soon as i would go over a bump in the road the same 3 speakers would cut out again and i forgot to mention the three speakers that cut out are the one rite behind the driver seat and the speakers in both the driver and passenger doors.
Does anybody have any idea's because i can't afford a new stereo rite now

It's a 97. The wiring is 18 years old. Run new 16-18 gauge speaker wire from headunit to each speaker, 4 lengths of wire, no breaks or splices.

Correct polarity, solder, and shrink tubing are your friends.

Re: Speakers acting up
If all three speakers started acting up at the same time then I doubt it is the wiring. The chances of three sets of speaker wire failing at the exact same time are... well... minimal. Also, you said that if you hold the radio in hand and drive around the problem goes away. Not that replacing the OEM wire is a bad thing, but it will be a fair amount of work and my guess is it won't solve the problem. I'd be taking a closer look at what is happening to the radio when you are driving. Also, the radio is 10 years old, may just be time to save up and upgrade.
