Re: Head unit just died
I have that same head unit in my ranger. All you need to do to verify if it's wiring or the head unit is check for power and ground.
If you don't have one, get a cheap multimeter(can be found at parts stores for under $10). Pull the deck, unplug the harness from it. Check for voltage at the pin with the red wire, and the pin with the yellow wire. Do this with the key in the run position. They should both have power, and your unit needs both to turn on. Then you can check for continuity to ground on the pin with the black wire.
(edit: there is a fuse on the deck, you will see it when you remove the harness from the back. Check that fuse before you start checking for power.)
If all three of these wires (and the fuse) do what they are supposed to, start looking for a new head unit.
