The connector/plug is the same, but there is a diode on the speaker itself, would it still work ok?

Sure they will work but still not as good as quality aftermarket speakers.

I had some in my truck i got for free from an explorer, no difference in sound from what i could tell. Youd be better off with aftermarket.
