Default Amp losing power

Since about a week after installing my subs/amp, i began to notice that when it rains and when i use my windshield wipers, my amp loses power for about 10 secs, then kicks back on, only to be turned off when the wipers go again, anyone know whats the deal behind this?

From your description it sounds like it might be going into protect mode from under voltage.

Do you know what your voltage is like with the vehicle on?

When i had a cap on it would sit around 12 volts off and 14-14.5 volts on

That seems decent voltage wise, does it dip badly when the wipers cycle on and off?

Other than that i would guess it's maybe a poor ground?

I dont know anymore, i took the cap off when i downgraded from a kicker L7 to the JLs, they run 300 rms each versus 1 15" l7 pulling 1000 watts lol, although when i had the kicker in when i was driving i did catch it dipping lower than 12 volts, and ofc the amp kicked into safety mode

You should try to get some numbers with DMM if you can to help diagnose the problem.

600w isn't a whole lot of draw, even factory electrical should handle it with maybe a little dimming and voltage drop. I would check your ground and make sure it's not just poorly connected.

Please update once you've checked that, amongst other things bad grounds are the bane of amplifiers.
